It's more likely that his neck was already aggravated from the slide on the stolen base. His spasms have seemed to show up most consistently after a baseslide.

Hes got a bulging disk in his back, but hes played thru it. The spasms will probably always be there until he gets it fixed, which probably wont be until his career is done. Its something that pops up usually after sliding, and he then usually needs a few days off.
