DLee's up to the second OPS........... .985

And to think, after April we all thought he was washed up. Glad I was wrong. DLee is a great guy and I wish there were more like him.

No, "we" didn't

No, but anyone who says the expected this is a liar.

why are the cubs playing some of their best baseball all season now?

Because the pressure is off. It makes no difference if they win or lose at this point.

The more important the game, the greater the chance of the Cubs crapping the bed.

Don't pretend like I was the only one who thought Lee was done for after April. It had been 12 full months since he had been any sort of productive by that point. There were many, many people here who thought it was time to cut him loose. I was one of those people, and I am I ever glad I was wrong.

There's a big difference between thinking he was done/wanting him cut loose and thinking he wasn't going to do anything like this. I thought he was about to settle into the mediocre level he was pre-2005. Useful, but not valuable. And I'm more than happy to admit I was wrong.

Id given up on him, but in hind sight, it was pretty foolish. 2008 was a bad year for him, and he still had a .291 avg and a .823 OPS with 20 HR and 90 RBI, so I dont know why I thought hed suddenly turn to crap at age 33. Its not like this is Gary Sheffield were talking about. Watching him this year, he easily has another 5 productive years left in him. Im sure next year, he'll get off to his patented slow start and heat up in June and Ill be more patient.
