Milton's probably an [expletive], and unbalanced. What this has to do with his ability as a baseball player is beyond me. The fact that he made you and other Cubs fans sad by telling them they were hateful idiots doesn't change the fact that he's likely to be a good player next year.

So you're content going into next season with Milton as the RF? You think this situation will get better by then, and not worse?

Come on.... it's time to move on. Milton is basically begging to leave, and you still want him to stay? This situation is not salvageable. I don't know how you can think that it is.

try and steal my boy Seth Smith from the Rox. They have way too many good outfielders as is and he'll likely just be a backup next year.

307 AB's, .303/.387/.531, .918 OPS, 133 OPS+

Name sounds familiar, where he did he play college ball?

Here's the thing. We know Hendry probably wouldn't have made this move if he didn't already have a target in mind. Given the comments to the media, I'm convinced it's probably a speed guy.

I'm hoping it's BJ Upton. I'm scared it's gonna be Sam Fuld. I'm scared [expletive] it'll be Chone Figgins.

It'll be Figgins.

figgins is a good player but will get overpaid. still, i'm not convinced the cubs would have enough money to sign him.

No at this point it's obvious that it won't work out. It's just [expletive] sad how it's all turned out. Piniella was the wrong manager for Bradley(amazingly Dusty would be ideal). Maybe a lot more has gone on behind the scenes, and maybe they kept reaching out to Milton, but it just seems a simple private sit down with Bradley, tell him not to talk the media, whatever would've done the job. It greatly disturbs me that the stated reasons for Bradley's suspension is the way he makes the media and fans feel.

As for the player reactions, I think this is getting overblown. I don't expect a Cubs employee to back the guy who was just suspended. Of course nobody really seemed like friends with Bradley, so I guess they wouldn't have a lot of motivation if that wasn't the case. I mean honestly, what's the worst that he could've affected the other players? A bunch of questions about him from the media. I'm sure that's why Geo's struggled this year.

Yeah I know, you talk more about him than you do Ty Cobb. It's tiresome.

I'm gonna stay out of this for my own mental health.

People who hate Bradley are at least partially racist, and at least partially don't know anything about baseball.[/quote]

Well I think Bradley's the second coming but I'm also a raging racist - so where does that leave me?

So how DID Texas get such a bombastic season from him anyway? Can't all be explained with park factors...can it?

the park certainly helped, but he was still really good. he's shown he can get hot and putu p big numbers. the problem is, most years he doesn't get that hot.

also, iirc milton had a ridiculous babip last season

I do think there is something to the whole "contract year" phenomenon. Not just with Milton, but with tons of other guys as well.

well my neighbor patrick willis..

I'm certainly not above name dropping, no doubt

it's shameful

but you get to mock it, so it does have some value

it's too easy, mocking that is below me

If he played the victim this year, it would have only been worse with Dusty. He loved to play the "us against the world, no one respects you" card. His guys became contentious with the media and looked for disrespect wherever they could find it. Jones and Hawkins had their problems with "racist" fans under his tenure and Dusty loved to subtly play the race card to avoid blame.

I think it's pretty clear his teammates didn't like him and he didn't really interact with anyone. I would never say his problems would have resulted in inferior production from specific players.

The irony of it is that Bradley never said anything that wasn't at least partly true... it was just constantly distorted by the fans and the media.

He didn't even have to stay away from the whole media. Sullivan's been crusading against him all year long since he admitted he had it out for him before the season even started.

What a hilarious way for the Cubs to end a crappy season. I'd like to be Milton Bradley for a day and see what he sees. The fans were idiots for booing him all the time, but this dude definitely has some mental instability. I guess we'll be paying all of his contract the next 2 seasons so he can play for some small market team.

yeah, you know, black outfielders and all that. I probably should have thrown an extra "wait..." in there and used Otis Nixon. because that really would have been funny and stuff.
