First the Cubs imploded and now it looks like some of the media is losing it. For those that haven't read it yet, Sullivan describes the Cubs clubhouse after today's game in vivid detail including this jab at Piniella:

Piniella laughed. There was no water bottle in sight, though Piniella appeared quite refreshed. As for Bradley's defensiveness, Piniella said Bradley handled things wrong, saying he should have just told the truth.

If you read the entire article he seems to insinuate that after the game Lou went to hide away and get a little tipsy before being ready to address the media. :-)) We knew the team was dysfunctional, but is this a case of the media going too far?

I'm guessing it is true, but did it need to be reported?

Why shouldn't it be reported when the manager of a professional sports teams drinks before a press conference?

It may not be the most professional thing to do, but I really don't have much of a problem with it. Lou having a drink after the game has no impact on the team's performance on the field. If a manager was drinking before a game, that would be another story, but having a drink or two before talking to the media isn't going to hurt anything.

Who gives a crap if ot's true? If I had to manage this team I'd drink a lot, too.

If I had to manage this team, I'd be doing lines of coke off of the back of Aaron Miles corpse.

I don't have any problem at all with this. People seem to be angry at the media when they lob softball questions and detail everything with rose covered glasses. But when they actually try to write a piece with an edge showing that things aren't rosy, then the media gets criticized for going too far.

Sullivan didn't get into anyone's personal life etc. It was a story about a hugely dysfunctional baseball team and a refreshing read imo.

Does anyone actually think that Piniella even runs the games anymore? I can think of a couple times where an OF has made a good play and Piniella goes over to Trammell and asks who's in LF.

Sullivan is an idiot.

He'd probably be more productive than Miles.

I'd call everyone out right now. Manager, players, you name it.

Who pinch hits Aaron Miles for Hoffpauir in a tie ballgame ? And to bunt ? Makes you wonder if the beverage sessions aren't just happening after the ballgame...
