guess not. i just cant remember off hand any games where we rallied from 2 or more down late.

This Sunday they should get 2 goals behind the Wings. I am sure that the Wings have blown more 2 goal leads than any team in the league

pretty sure they were down 2-0 to CBJ the last game before the break.

in the first. and i never said they never did it. just seemed like they didn't come back very often, but apparently it's not as bad as i thought.

i wonder why we aren't hearing more about tim thomas. rask has completely taken over as the bruins number 1 goalie (he's started 7 straight games for boston), and it was already known that he was the future number 1 for boston even before that. i see no reason why thomas wouldn't be on the market.

If we don't acquire a goalie by tomorrow, I'm not going to expect much from this team in April.

yeah, it really is hard to get excited about our chances of winning a cup with the goalies we have. it would be such a shame too. such an amazing team ruined due to the lack of one position.

i really have a feeling that someone will be brought in tomorrow though. just not sure if it will be somebody good.

I still believe an old Marty Turco is better than Huet or Niemi.

Pretty much the consensus of all the Hawks message boards I visit.

I can think of 2 games where the Blackhawks won after trailing by multiple goals early without even thinking hard.

The first one is obvious. Did you all forget the Calgary Flames game back in (i think) November? Hawks were down 5-0 early and came back and won in OT 6-5. The other one I can think of is the game in Boston in January. They quickly fell behind 2-0, and came back to win 5-2 or 5-3, I can't remember exactly. A majority of the time any team that goes down 2 goals isn't going to win. You have to play 3 goals better than another team for the rest of the game. The Blackhawks are good and can comeback sometimes, even more than most teams in the league, but more often than not they aren't going to win.

This sounds like a total "grass is always greener" situation. Everybody's goalie situation is supposedly better than the Blackhawks. Have you seen some of the goalies that have won Cups this past decade, with less than inspiring performances?

i can't believe you're disagreeing with the general consensus. no [expletive] way

I can't believe the general consensus is based on emotional overreaction. No way! The general consensus is still that RBIs are the best way to measure a power hitter, so the GC can go take a flying flip at the moon for all I care.

Reading between the lines of the trade rumors, I don't see how we get a goalie upgrade. We can't do it without convincing a team to take Huet, and any goalie worth picking up can fetch just as good of a package from another team that doesn't involve taking on Huet.

our goalies suck ass, though, total.

Huet is fine and Niemi is a perfectly acceptable backup, he's just struggled when given everyday duty.

I'd be completely in favor of upgrading over Huet, but in a salary cap sport that's next to impossible, and most of the discussion has seemingly been about replacing him with just a different name who isn't any better.

seems like kind of an arbitrary example.

both are fine backups, neither is a full-time starter.

Well yes. I wanted an example and I picked one. I don't have any preexisting principles regarding choice of anecdotes, so any choice I made would have to be arbitrary.

RDS, the French Canadian sports network, says Vokoun has waived his No Trade Clause only for Philadelphia and Chicago.

Huet is absolutely a starter in this league, and it's not close. There aren't two dozen better goalies in the league right now.

He may not be the ideal starter for a Cup contender, and he may be overpaid, but he's definitely a No. 1 somewhere in the league.

I'm curious how much judgment is clouded from watching Miller, Luongo, Vokoun, Kiprusoff and Nabokov for 2 weeks. Sure, Huet isn't in their league, but he's perfectly serviceable, especially for a team that generally plays defense as well as the Hawks do. Even last night's soft goals were partially the result of awful defensive play. Some nights your goalie just isn't going to have it, especially after a 2 week layoff.

on a non-cup contender, his numbers are much worse, and he'd lose his job quickly.

the isles' 40 year old journeyman did just fine last night. but that's anecdotal.
