Thank God Huet isn't in goal.

I was thinking that as well, despite having limited chances, there's no doubt in my mind the Stars score on some those chances Niemi denied.

Thank God that's it for Dallas this year. 4 points behind San Jose for 1 seed and 5 behind Washington for Presidents Trophy.

more importantly, vancouver lost in regulation tonight so we gain a big 2 points on them. i'm more concerned with them than the sharks

Jeez, that stream was way behind tonight.

Two points are always nice so I'm not going to complain with anything.

not really much to complain about. this was one of their better games since the minnesota collapse. the score was close, but the hawks dominated them. the stars took advantage of a couple mixups and pathetic officiating (i'm still pissed about that stolen 5-3).

niemi was really good tonight, despite giving up the 3 goals. the only one that was his fault was the rebound on the second goal. he had no chance at all on the 1st and 3rd goals, and was completely money in the OT and SO.

also gotta give credit to sopel for playing all 2 minutes of that OT PK. he was huge

he wasn't biting at all on anything. the only one that he seemed a little caught off guard by was the post shot, and it was post because he did a good job cutting off the angle.

Sopel is such a frustrating player. He looks so good on PK's at times, but he makes so many dumb mistakes that it's impossible to like him.

Niemi was great last night. He had absolutely no chance on two of the goals and, as some noted, he was fantastic in the shootout.

Q is bailed out a little this weekend since it's a back-to-back, so we won't really know what he's thinking. But I see no reason why Niemi shouldn't be the starter going forward.

I see no reason why it shouldn't remain a wait and see situation for the foreseeable future. Huet and Khabi split time all last year. Huet has been the main guy most of this year, Niemi has looked good in small amounts of time, but pretty much every time they've looked to give him more time, he's struggled. Keep giving him opportunities, but don't commit to him in any sort of full-time capacity any time soon.

I don't think they gave him a real chance to earn more playing time until that Vancouver game when he tanked. But he knows the pressure is on him. I don't want to crawl into his head, but perhaps if Q makes him the number one guy he'll relax and play even better.

That was a fun game last night. My heart skipped a beat when the puck was tipped in the net at the end of regulation. Fortunately, it was too late.

Apparently Madden is out for the weekend games. At least he'll have plenty of time to get healthy. And we have an extra forward right now anyway.

Is he out with a Tiger?

He's got plenty of time for it...

It was interesting to hear Kane talk about how they practice their breakaways on Niemi and how he stops almost all of them.

I just like the way he moves in net better than Huet. But I'm still a little gunshy about giving him the lion's share of the starts because of the experience factor.

There's only one way to get experience...
