Im at the point where Ill be accepting of anything other than a Cardinals/White Sox World Series.

The Phillies are too complete to be stopped. Plus I think the've owned the Cardinals this season: something like 7-3 or 8-2.

It will be a Phillies/Yankees World Series and ESPN will be orgasmic.

The only thing worse would be a Dodgers/Yankees WS, which may cause ESPN to collapse into a drooling epileptic fit of "Joe Torre & Manny vs. the Yankees" obsession.

I suppose theyd also love a Mannys vs. Red Sox World Series. However, froma ratings standpoint, I cant imagine anything topping Cubs vs. anyone. Not going to happen this year, but when it does...

i want to see a cardinals/tigers rematch

actually as long as the dodgers don't win i will be happy

Why would you want to see the Cardinals anything?

unlike a lot of folks on here, if the cubs don't make the playoffs, i will root for the cardinals because they have a good squad this year and a hell of a one two

like i said before anyone but the dodgers...

OK, I updated this

basically we need to go 30-10 while the Cards go 20-16 and I'm including us sweeping them in Sept

stranger things have happened?

There is absolutely no chance whatsoever that we sweep the Cardinals.

This is where Kyle would be useful.

I can't see us doing better than 27-13. Which would require the Cards to go 17-19. Despite our generally more favorable schedule the rest of the way, I just don't see it. Besides, Milwaukee will probably fight us tooth and nail in our series with them, and just lay down for the Cards when they play them.

The wild card is even more improbable, because it'd require the Rockies, Giants, Braves, and Marlins to all tank.

How the Cubs win the NL Central:

The Cardinals all die in a plane crash

That's the only way it happens, folks.

In that case I'm prayin for a drunk pilot, stormy weather and faulty landing equipment every night.

Yeah, there's no bad blood between the Brewers and Cardinals.

what is wrong with you

lol...apparently i don't think like you

Or any other Cubs fan for that matter.

Here you go optimists!

Cubs need just 47 of the remaining 76 Cubs + Cardinals games (73 actual games but three of them count as a Cubs game and a Cardinals game) to go their way to clinch. 46 to tie.

They need a .618 "winning percentage" in those games to win the division (.605 to tie).

The Cardinals need a .408 "winning percentage" to win the division (.395 to tie).

C'mon ... did you really think that you could claim to root for the Cubs and Cards and not catch some flak for it? I'm not going to tell you who to support on your own time, but don't take it personally when you catch hell here for saying something like that.

That said, I've heard Cards fans tell me that they would root for the Cubs in the playoffs and all I wanted to do was kick them in the face. Rivalry lines just shouldn't be crossed.
