Some reports have Encarnacion and 2008 1st rounder Yonder Alonso to TOR for Rolen.

wow.

:-))

Does anyone know what injury Encarnacion had earlier this season? The guy wasn't bad offensively for a third baseman the previous three seasons, and is only 26. I'm curious if he'll stick at third though, because I've heard he's pretty bad with the glove.

Wrist.

Ran into him a few weeks ago when he was on rehab. The Reds have been down on him for a while. Attitude/Motivation issues.

Ah ok. A wrist injury plus attitude/motivation issues can certainly have an effect on his value then.

Man, I really would've liked Nick Johnson.

Where would you have played him?

Probably wouldn't be worth what it would take to get him to make him just a PH.

I don't know anything about Thompson, but it doesn't seem like much especially considering the Nats are paying his salary. Johnson would likely be much better than Hoffpauir for the rest of the season, and we'd have the inside track on bringing him back in free agency if we wanted.

Yeah, and Johnson knows how to get on base better as good as anyone! Slight injury risk, but he'd have been a great pickup - even better if we were able to bring him back next season.

Not sure what to make of this, but SI's Jon Heyman tweeted that Padres pitcher Jake Peavy was dealt to the White Sox again. Heyman is not sure if Peavy OK'd it. He says the Padres get minor leaguers.

As far as I can tell he's never played the outfield. I'd like his bat, but there absolutely no fit for him on this team.

Austin Jackson is very much not going to the Reds. Instead its some minor league catcher named Chase Weems.

Yeah, that makes more sense. Weems is behind Montero, Romine and Cervelli on the organizational depth chart at catcher.

Peavy was seriously traded to the white sox? This sucks ass

Meh, who cares, and it helps us as we still have games remaining vs San Diego.

Isn't he out until Sept? Cubs play the Padres by then anyway.

I thought he was coming back fairly soon.

This is from Rotowire

Jul 26 Peavy (ankle) continues to make progress in his rehab, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports,

Recommendation: Peavy could still be another month away from returning to the Padres, but it's good to see him moving towards returning as opposed to shutting it down for the remainder of the season.

Ok...this is apparently the deal for Rolen.

Encarnacion, Josh Roenicke, and Zach Stewart.

Rotoworld is still reporting Alonso is involved.

4:08pm: MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo reports that the Nats get righty Ryan Mattheus and Robinson Fabian in the deal.

This is who the Rockies gave up for Beimel.
