[expletive] Hammel, it's the Nationals!!!!

It's okay. Our other starts tonight are against each other. I have money on Josh Johnson tearing Zito up.

I don't know how I'm still in it this week, this might be one of the rare times my offense carries me.

Your offense is unexpectedly good. There isn't a real stand out guy on the roster, but they certainly can put up points. 20 RBI already certainly doesn't hurt.

I'd like to suggest having a lower pitching start limit (maybe 5) for the short week next week. Since no major league teams play more than 4 games, and some only play 3, not only will there not be any 2-start pitchers, but some pitchers won't even get 1 start. So a team could have 7 or 8 starting pitchers on their active roster and still not have 7 starts next week. I think that makes it too likely that the outcome of some games may be determined not by performance but by the luck of the draw with respect to who has a full complement of starts. That to me seems to be against the spirit of fantasy baseball. I'm not positive about this, but I believe we had a lower limit for All-Star week last year.

I think you are right, and I do agree.

However, 4 starts probably makes the most sense. There are 7 days in a week and 7 starts in a week. The all star week only has 4 days, thus 4 starts. Some teams might only have 5 starters, and as you pointed out, they may not all get a start that week.

I think 4 makes even more sense than the 5 I mentioned. I agree with you that it's the equivalent of 7 for a full week since either way it's an average of 1 per day.

It looks like a great matchup between the Rays and Fuzzy.

Strangely enough, we've been within 10 or 20 of each other almost the whole way. Also, I believe all of our starts have been identical. 2 starts on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday, none on Thursday, 1 on Friday, 1 on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.

Should be an interesting finish.

I currently have 4 players reserved, since I do not want to exceed 7 starts.

Also, Guerrero was day-to-day so I benched him and recalled Para.

blockbusters!

Wow... I have no idea why Raw made that trade. Peavy for Hamels and Wright is basically how I see it. Atkins is garbage and who knows about Drabek.

Posted

peavy's one of the best keepers in the league. he's going to be limited to 200 points due to a non-arm injury.

i was happy about his injury when i thought i was going to be out of it, but once i decided to stay in, he was clearly my best trade chip.

I still think Raw could have done better. You still have 2 games to make up on 3rd place, and I'll be interested to see how that shakes out.

Seems like a pretty fair trade to me. Actually, I'm kicking myself for not at least asking about Peavy. I just remembered Adam saying something about Peavy being even more keapable with his injury, since he was in sell mode at the time and has a lot of points to get rid of.

I probably didn't have the guys he was looking for, though. I wasn't trading my best pitching and my 3b's aren't exactly making Garrett Atkins look all that bad.

Raw did his homework. Drabek is one of the Phillies better prospects and he could be the main trade chip for Halladay. Also, Boston is talking to Colorado about Atkins. Peavy being a cheap keeper is just icing on the cake.

yeah, i've held on to atkins in hopes that he gets traded to boston. even being mediocre he would stumble into a decent amount of points in that lineup.

but when you have the chance to trade for a 3b with five homers and a starting pitcher on the verge of being in the top 60, you just can't pass it up. :D

I hadn't paid all that much attention to Wright, but when I heard that the Mets only had 50 home runs on the season the other day, it put how woeful their offense has been into perspective.

BBB that was my thinking. Drabek has been dominating this year. Peavy doesn't have an arm injury and should be a great keeper with just over 200 points. Even if he comes back, he won't get much more than 300. I am losing a lot of exemptions and am using my 2000 points on Peavy, Wainwright, Kinsler, Sizemore, and Gonzalez, and still may not have enough to keep them all. I had no future on my team as my prospects were horrible.

Plus, Abuck can't keep all the players he has. He'll probably only be able to keep 3 of Tex, Rollins, Wright, McCann, and Hamels. Maybe 4 if Hamels stays on his 350 point pace.

Also, there wasn't much of a market for David Wright. I have offered him in a few trades that got shot down. Plus, many teams are strong at 3B.

yeah, all the good 3b are on teams in contention. which is why raw couldn't get a ton for wright and why he and i matched up well for a trade. i probably could have got a better SP than hamels for peavy, but i wanted to be able to get a SP and a 3b.

hopefully i can keep teix, wright mccann and maybe hamels? haven't looked a whole lot at how much they're on pace to score. i think i've had just about enough of jimmy rollins.

I hope my trade with Juan works out for him. I'm counting on Santana, Webb, Oswalt and James Shields staying below the cap so that I can go into next year with what has the makings to be a killer rotation.

Right now, they are sitting at 826 points.

I think Santana has the potential to score many more second half points than first. Pitchers are tough to predict though. I'm happy with the deal.

If Santana, Webb, Oswalt and Shields add up to less than 2000 points, I love the deal. If they go over, I'm not really all that crazy about it. Although I would still want to keep Santana over any of the other guys. Shields isn't going anywhere, though.

Does Sanchez's start count as a PG? I'm only asking because that makes a difference whether I'm down 60 or 10.

No, an error ruins the perfect game. Juan Uribe is a piece of crap.

Wait, CBS is giving credit for a perfect game. Never knew that.

Posted
CBS is wrong. A perfect game means 27 up, 27 down, NO baserunners (even on an error on somebody other than the pitcher). I suspect they'll correct it.

It's been corrected. Should have just left Sandoval at 3rd. Uribe looked like Sandoval on that play.
