Thinking ahead, are we using the short week after the All-Star Game this year? And if so, what is the pitching start limit for that week?

NC Cubs at The Eyes of Texas

Galesburg Hand Sanitizers at Quakers

Severe Tooterstorms at The Fighting Manginos

Harrys Budcrew at Lynx

Fuzzy Logistics at Tampa Bay Rays

Valenzuela's Screwballs at Alamo Stealth

Tootielicious at Northside Baseball

Raw Dawgs at Saber Metrics

The battle between the two 1st place teams.

I hope we don't use the AS week as far as points.

Great start Tim, thanks for the help!

You get the better end of the two trades I made with you and then when I want you to win, you start off with a -31 in the 1st inning.

I'm not sure what this means but the AS week is a week with a game like any other week. In the end, its not that different from the first week of the season.

I'm glad I'm playing a good team, but I'm disappointed in a way b/c Grienke was scheduled for 2 starts as well as the smaller sample of points might create more unusual results.

Sorry about that.

Would it be rubbing it in on the trades to point out that you could have had Upton instead? :)

Very nice start to the week, with Victorino taking batting practice off the Reds' pitching and Washburn pitching a complete game one-hit shutout. Now it's time for me to steal a page from Adam's book and brag about having the high score of the week after Monday's games. :D

BBB, thanks for not starting Anderson.

With the starts I had lined up, it would have been stupid for me to start Anderson at Boston. But, then I lost RJ's start against SD, knocking me down to just 7 starts.

It's one of those where all you can do is kick yourself later. At least I'm not kicking myself as hard as Adam is kicking himself for dropping him.

I'm kicking myself for not realizing he was available.

Speaking of kickers, I picked him up as a free agent. He had already cleared waivers.

oh all the sudden he's a hot [expletive] commidity.

Probably not quite yet. I only grabbed him for a look see. After I picked him up, I quickly became disturbed by early exits from games with high pitch counts. But, if he wants to go all Jon Lester on me right now, I'd be fine with that.

Yeah, that's what I meant.

He's not that great a commodity but would be lovely to have as an exempt player for the next 2 seasons by which time, his production should take a big step forward.

I wish you would've benched Shields too.

Shields is one of my favorite pitchers in MLB. Fat chance I sit him.

Oh, and thanks for starting Hammel.

[expletive] Hammel, it's the Nationals!!!!

It's okay. Our other starts tonight are against each other. I have money on Josh Johnson tearing Zito up.

If it weren't for that [expletive] Bochy, I would have had another 50 point start this week even if one of them was on the bench.

I'd like to suggest having a lower pitching start limit (maybe 5) for the short week next week. Since no major league teams play more than 4 games, and some only play 3, not only will there not be any 2-start pitchers, but some pitchers won't even get 1 start. So a team could have 7 or 8 starting pitchers on their active roster and still not have 7 starts next week. I think that makes it too likely that the outcome of some games may be determined not by performance but by the luck of the draw with respect to who has a full complement of starts. That to me seems to be against the spirit of fantasy baseball. I'm not positive about this, but I believe we had a lower limit for All-Star week last year.

I think you are right, and I do agree.

However, 4 starts probably makes the most sense. There are 7 days in a week and 7 starts in a week. The all star week only has 4 days, thus 4 starts. Some teams might only have 5 starters, and as you pointed out, they may not all get a start that week.
