All I know is what I can see, and Fuld looks like a lead off hitter the past few days, sparking the team. If you are impressed by swinging at balls and a .290 OBP, enjoy.

 

So what sparked the team in the first game of the series with the Pirates?

Are you saying Fuld has not positively impacted the team the last two games? The guy is playing smart, energetic baseball - something this team is in desperate need of. I'm not saying he can sustain this, but it *is* happening.

 

On his own? No, I think it's incredibly unlikely that a mediocre career minor leaguer is "sparking" the whole team. He can certainly help and I hope he does well, but he's only one guy.

The ball is flying tonight. Doesn't help that Dempster has been leaving everything up but...I expect the final score to be like 9-7 or something.

Well we have scored just as many runs today with Fuld leadin off than we did with Soriano leadin off the first two games with the Pirates combined.

 

Which likely means absolutely nothing.

 

Just seeing Fuld sitting there on second base, grit literally radiating from his body, inspired Lee to crush the ball very far.

 

 

Right, because getting on base is a bad thing. Can't hit a 3 run homer every time, and you especially can't hit one with no one on base.

 

Yes, Fuld was on base and Lee hit a homer. The point is that those 2 events aren't related except that the latter scored the former. If Soriano had led off and struck out, Lee probably hits a homer anyways. I know butterfly effect but you get my point.

Got to enjoy that 4-run lead for a whole 5 minutes

 

Yea it sucks to see the lead already cut in half but if someone told me we would have a two run lead going into the bottom of the 2nd i would probably have said "no way."
