I realize that by merely raising the question I've just jinxed him into doing so, but come on...the guy hasn't walked anyone since May 10th. For those of you who can't count so good, that's over a month. A month without a walk. Of course, if he's not striking out anybody (or getting people out in general) not walking anyone doesn't really mean that much. I thought if he had a 5-to-1 or even 6-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio would be sick enough, but Chris's ratio is 18-to-1. I've never even heard of that before.

In his last 12.2 innings, he's struckout 20 and walked none allowing 2 earned runs. That's got to be good enough for a promotion sometime in July, assuming he doesn't completely fall apart.

Oops, jinxed him again. I'm terrible...

What's the story on him? Does he have a future?

I know he's a guy we signed for over-slot money a couple years back, and hadn't done much until this year. I went to a Chiefs game last week, and though he didn't get in the game, I saw him warming up and his stuff looked good. I know there are other people on here who can give you more insight. However, I think he could be a future bullpen arm in the bigs.

Didnt Angel Guzman have some ridiculous K/BB ratio in 03 when he was dominating. Then he hurt his arm. I remember the offseason of 03 some guy who writes for BA said that Guzman would have been pitching in the 03 playoffs for the Cubs if it wasnt for the injury.

Chris struck out the side tonight to earn his 6th save. He now has 23 Ks against 0 walks in 15 innings since May 10th and 39 Ks against 2 walks on the year.

Well, we got our answer. Today. July 5th. Huseby now has 43 Ks against 3 BBs on the season. He managed to go basically a month and three-quarters without issuing a walk.

Let's start a new streak, Chris. We've still got Guzman's 53 Ks/4 BBs mark to shoot for...

In an ironic twist, Huseby walked 4 guys in blowing a 9th inning lead to end Peoria's season.

Yeah, his shoulder was so hurt that his fastball was 84-86 last night instead of 90-92 and just couldnt find the arm slot for his slider. Shouldn't have been out there...Still a great season. Bad ending, but a fun year where we accomplished a lot.

So his shoulder was hurt, and they knew this, yet they still let him pitch? What a ridiculously stupid move from the Chiefs, and especially the Cubs front office for letting it even happen. Completely assinine.

If he's topping out at 86 and has a major history of arm injuries, that is a horrible decision by the Cubs.

Of course they let Chris Carpenter throw after a 45 minute rain delay so I'm beginning to think they learned nothing from Prior and Wood's arm issues and preventive strategies to protect valuable arms.

It goes back even further than that, to the time they let Jon Lieber continue pitching after a lengthy rain delay (shortly thereafter he needed TJS).

He was cleared by the medical staff on the off day and put on the roster for the playoffs but limited to 1 inning per outing with a rest day in between.

Yea I really dont care if he was cleared by the medical staff or not. Class A playoffs really dont mean jack, and if he guy has a history of arm problems, and the only way he can pitch is 1 inning at a time with a day off in between, the smart thing to do would be to just shut him down. Like I said, what a completely assinine decision, by the Chiefs, and especially the Cubs front office.

Fair point. I was trying to reference the pitching injuries and the lack of protection of arms under Hendry's watch as GM but now that I think about it, Don Baylor trotted Lieber out there in 2002 soon after Hendry had become GM.
