I guess Ascaino is learning from Marmol with his "getting into tricky situations and then calmly getting out of them" brand of effectiveness.

TOP OF THE FIFTH INNING

 

Ascanio in to pitch for the CUBS

Ad LaRoche grounded out to second, 4-3

Moss singled to left field

An LaRoche singled to right field , Moss to second

Jaramillo singled to right field , Moss to third, An LaRoche to second

Wilson popped out to first base

Monroe, pinch hitting for Maholm, flied out to center field

 

0 runs 3 hits 0 errors 3 men left on base

Where the [expletive] was that?!

 

The first 2 strikes looked like borderline pitches that could have been called balls, and he quickly called them strikes both times. Then that pitch looks like the best one of the AB and a ball is called. Weird.

I can't believe left him him for that tight situation. I was looking for Mr. go-to guy Heilman.

 

Hes tied up in my trunk in case such a situation should arise.

Ahh I missed playing Pittsburgh and their parade of lefties. I was beginning to think that left handed pitchers were outlawed in the National League.
