If we can take 2-3 from the Pirates, that will suffice. If we can take 2-4 from the Dodgers, we'll be on the right track.

 

With the Cards and Crew going head to head, this would be a nice chance to gain some ground on someone.

I thought the Pirates traded Dumatrait toward the end of the season last year..... but I can't find anything about it on Baseball Reference. I must have been thinking about somebody else. Evidently, Dumatrait is still the property of the Pirates, but he's on the DL these days. Oh well.... I sure did like it when we drew him for an opponent.

 

eta: Hell, the CUBS haven't scored 16 runs in their last 8 games combined !!!

It's wierd...this seven game losing streak has completely destroyed the term "automatic" for me. If you told me last Thursday (after sweeping the Padres) that we'd get to face a team we just swept and the Pirates back to back, but be in our worst losing streak of the year, I'd call you crazy.

 

I honestly don't know if we'll win tonight. It's gotta happen eventually.

Greetings and Salutations!

 

I bring you this years Jeckly & Hyde Pirates.

 

First, to answer your Dumatrait questions - he was shut down late last year had had shoulder surgery. Still recovering.

 

Maholm & Duke have been brilliant at times. (Check out Duke's ERA!) Snell has been inconsistent, and our offense has been inversely consistent when he's pitching. Ohlendorf is coming into his own. Looks like he's going to be very good, but he's not there yet.

 

Andy LaRoche and Moss are starting to get hot. Nyger Morgan is exceeding anyone's wildest dreams about the season he'd have. Freddy is being Freddy.

 

But, the offense gets maddingly quiet for spurts. Gonna be interesting tonight to see which Pirate team show up.

The boo birds will be out in full force tonight just waiting for slip ups or poor plate appearances. I don't endorse it, but understand they will rain displeasure upon the field when their feathers are ruffled.
