I guess we should be happy it's not a shoulder problem, like last year when Woody went down with the blister problem?

I dunno.

Assuming its as mild as they say, the DL stint is retroactive to his last start, which I believe was Sunday, and he misses 2 starts. Assuming its as mild as they say.

I guess it makes sense. Not only does Harden get some R&R, but we get a chance to see what Wells is capable of for a few more starts. We knew they were going to do this type of thing throughout the season. Another indirect result is Ascanio gets to try and prove himself, as does Patton.

The move that causes us to get Peavy?

Hopefully it lights a fire under Hendry to try and get approval of it from the Trib/Ricketts and to re-start things with Towers. Like it was already mentioned it gives guys like Ascanio, Wells and Patton a little more time up to prove something and maybe makes 1 of them a little more attractive in a trade.

Works for me. I was pissed none of his starts were being skipped at this point. Anything that gives him more rest without it being his shoulder or elbow is OK by me.

Good lord this feels a lot like '04.

A season removed from a season everyone thought was 'the year'...a gazillion injuries...manager making questionable-at-best moves and saying weird things...enigma of a RF wearing #21 and underperforming grossly...impatient fans...what would make you think that??

That's an unsettling number of accurate comparisons.

crappy bullpen, front 2 starters with injury concerns....

they won 89 games in 04 though. i'd gladly take that

If they can play most of the season like they did in '04, Ill be fine with that. Who says the end result has to be the same? As long as it doesnt mean that '05 and '06 arent right around the corner.

If anything, it feels like '06.

I remember last week we won five in a row. All of the sudden, were about to drop five in a row.

its not quite that bad but this team is extremely streaky like in 2004, score a ton of runs 1 game, go cold the next

I agree, this team will win no more than 67 games. FOR [expletive]'S SAKE

20000th post! *throws confetti*

this feels like the 2009 version of the cubs. not any other version because mark prior isn't rich harden and ted lilly isn't kerry wood and carlos zambrano is only barely carlos zambrano.

The only thing that would "light a fire" under Hendry would be a 20-foot tall pile of donuts.
