This whole situation is FAR inferior to the Aubrey Huff/Joba situation from Sunday. I can't find a video, but it was awesome. Apparently Joba pumped his fist a bit too strong last year after striking out Huff and Huff hit a bomb off of him Sunday and did the same thing like 3 times while rounding the bases. It was awesome.

I understand why he does it now after reading the article but the question I have is at what point can a tribute still be hot dogging. Is there a point where it's too over the top to where it should legitimately piss the opponent off. I don't have much problem with what Wilson does but it doesn't look like a tribute as opposed to someone crossing themselves or pointing to the sky so I can see why it could still be seen as self promoting and it could still rub people the wrong way.

I agree, whenever the Yankees/Orioles play next time there better be an ambulance ready for Huff because he is getting one between the ears. One fist pump might have been alright, but he did a fist pump while staring at Joba rounding first, then he did it again running the bases and then finally he crossed home plate stopped and did one final triumphant fist pump. Aubrey Huff could literally be killed next time the Orioles and Yankees play. And I wouldn't blame whatever pitcher(s) who throw at him for any wrong doing.

So let me get this straight, the meaning of Wilson's gesture was pretty well-guarded secret until last season. However, it's not showboating, it's just to quick message out to the world and to Christ. But if the meaning was a well-guarded secret then how was anyone in the "world" supposed to understand the message? And I think that a silent prayer to himself would satisfy Christ.

It's showboating veiled with good intentions so no one can complain about it. Either stop doing it or drop the outrage when someone decides to shove it back in your face.

I'd like to see someone hit a walk-off against K-Rod and get down on their knees when they cross home.

What a douche, he adapted a sign from an ultimate fighting clothing company to honor christ and his late father? Way to hide your douchebaggery behind the cross you big baby.

I wasn't flipping anyone the bird....I was pointing up to heaven.

And it counts double if you do it with both hands.

Does Chamberlain still do the fist pump? I know he did it out of the bullpen when he'd be in tough situations, but does he still do it when he strikes someone out in the first inning?

I'll never understand why people (fans) get so worked up about players celebrating.

News Flash: someone (probably a couple) do it for the team you root for.

I don't have a problem with spontaneous celebration of meaningful events - like getting out of a big inning, winning the game, etc. I hate all foms of preplanned celebratory moves. That goes double when guys cry about other people mimicking your ridiculous preplanned celebration like that roid head with the lights out nonsense.
