Chad Fox is the newest Cub to be injured. Id wager a pretty big bet that his career is over. Basically same thing happened that happened when he got hurt the last time with the Cubs. Time for Ascanio, but I doubt the Cubs will do that since it makes the most sense. They will probably call up Shark knowing Lou and Hendry

Haha. I missed him pitch. What happened? Did his arm explode again?

That's what it looked like to me. One of his pitches sailed extremely wild, he held his arm in pain, and that was that.

I bet Hart is next in line, even though hes been awful and Ascanio and Stevens have been great.

Who's that crackpot in the broadcast booth. The lefty. He's probably still got something left in the tank.

ETA: Plesac!

I honestly think his motive for pitching this year was to get MLB pension for 10 years of MLB service time. I don't fault the guy for doing it, but at least now he'll get it, as the Cubs will likely put him on the DL until that happens.

Can we find a way to blame Dusty for it again?

I met Chad Fox in Ariz. He is one of the nicest players I have ever met. Cant condem the guy for trying it one more time. I am sure he is a future pitching coach for somebody. It is time for a bullpen purge. Patton, Cotts, and the DL'ed Fox must go. That leaves three changes to be made real quick.

One of those changes has already been made (DLing Fox, bringing up Asciano). It's fine to keep Fox on the DL if that gives him service time; no need to release him. If they need a spot on the 40-man roster they can transfer him to the 60-day DL. You're right that Patton and Cotts must go, and Heilman needs to be banished to mopup duty until he rediscovers the strike zone. That's a tall order for Hendry to find that many suitable replacements, but he needs to be held accountable to do so because he's responsible for this mess in the first place.

If they need a spot on the 40-man roster

The Cubs currently have only 36 players on their 40 man roster. it's unlikely a spot will need to be freed any time soon.

Bring up Jake Fox and Jeff Stevens

Can we stop with the Stevens love? They guy has walked 7 guys in 13 innings, why do you think Lou wants another guy with command issues in the pen?

I know I can deal with a few more walks than ideal if he can do even half as well as his current .089 BAA. His walk rate has been fine in his 300+ innings prior to this year, I don't think his first 14 IP this year are enough to make me think he's a wildman now.

I cringe when I say this, but...

A sudden increase in wildness is often a sign of an impending injury in a pitcher.
