If any of you remember the gruesome leg break of Texas A&M's Derrick Roland right before Christmas you may be interested to know that he plans on suiting up for Senior Night tonight. He probably won't play and if he does it will only be a token appearance as a thank you for 4 years of hard work, but just the fact that he would be able to particpate in layup drills with his team 2 1/2 months after a Theisman-like fracture is remarkable. He is such a tough kid.

I believe he'll come back it'll only improve his draft position. If he doesn't, I don't know if we'll necessarily see way too much of JJ. Weber values defense, if Paul improves or say, Richmond or Head play good D they'll get the minutes over JJ.

And none of those players are ball handlers. Bertrand is apparently lacking in this area as well. Unless we take a PG for 2010 it'll be a lot of JJ.

I've heard just the opposite. From what I've seen it sounds like Bertrand, while not a true PG, has the best handles of any of the guys brought in this year. That could be wrong, but it ounded like he was going to get the backup PG minutes this year has he been healthy.

Just saying what I've read recently. Take it for what it's worth.

chatter currently about possible transfers this summer.

Care to mention any names?

please don't. i'm depressed enough as it is.

All I have heard is Derek Elston. Are there others?

I heard something about Watford, but I doubt it's anything. If that happens I'm going to lose my [expletive].

I'd heard rumors about one of Watford or Jones, but don't really have a read on its viability. I still contend that losing Jones would be a positive, though raw may disagree.

If IU were to lose Watford, that would make the team's post play even more comical. We'd see even more of Tom Prichard and I guess maybe Bawa Muniru...? Anyway, I hadn't anticipated that what little talent is on the team wants to leave. What is the rumored reasoning behind him wanting to transfer?

Posted (edited)

The names that I have heard floating around in transfer rumors are Watford and Jones. I had not heard anything about Elston. There also have been very cryptic rumors that don't name any names but the general theme is fans "might be surprised". Which just makes me feel great to think about. ](*,)

If we lose Jones but keep Watford then I can live with that. Not that I have a negative opinion of VJIII just saying if we have to lose somebody I'd rather lose him than Watford.

Also there was a rumor that Jeremiah Rivers and Watford got in a fight in practice and perhaps that is part of the source of bad feelings.....again, if you believe the rumors that Watford is considering leaving. I'd have a hard time believing a scrap in practice would cause a dude to want to leave though.

It is the last thing I want to be thinking about right now. We are trying to build this team up, not have to replace parts and start over in certain areas.

Hopefully Jeff Jordan decides to focus on his studies again.

Pray McCamey comes back, otherwise we are going to see WAY too much JJ.

richmond might have to handle the point ala evan turner.

I just hope Jereme isn't sitting behind Bill Cole.

Barring injury, I'm willing to bet on Jereme getting more tick. I wouldn't be surprised if he's off the bench to start the year, but he's just too good to not get serious minutes come conference play.

I wouldn't be stunned to see a DMac-Paul-DJ-Davis-Tisdale lineup for much of the year though.

I can live with that scenario. My big fear though is Brandon and Paul are both off of the bench while Cole starts.

Big game tonight at the Phag. Hope the Cats decide to show up.

How is this not on TV?

On a side note, I heard a KU fan refer to your Octogon of Doom stadium as the Octogon of Dumb. I'm sure you heard that before and don't find it funny, but I chuckled.

That makes me laugh too. I think the entire Octogon of Doom thing is [expletive], but whatever. Way to go ESPN. Picking OU vs UT over #2 vs #5. At least I have the ticket on DirecTV. Im sure they thought they were making a good selection at the beginning of the year. Love to see things like this blow up in their face.

Just playin, I don't want to miss Frank Martin actually murder somebody on the court during a sweet 16 game.

Maybe it'll be Illinois? Oh, wait, they probably won't even make it.

I prefer Hawktagon of Doom since they've only beaten us in that arena once. Ever.

The Phag is funny if you're a backwoods homophobe.

Should be a good game, though. I hope we're ready to play. Senior night. Sherron's last game. Can sew up sole possession of the league championship. Final resume piece required for a one seed. And a win can put KSU in line for one, possibly. It's a huge game for both teams.

Not a backwoods homophobe. In all the times I've been to Lawrence though, the Phag is very fitting.

We'll probably be too busy being gay.

And what the hell?? I was actually being nice enough to say you'd make it to the sweet 16 rather than flame out in the 2nd round.

Hey snood, who was the last team to beat KU at the Phog?

haha, fuggin' Acie Law.

Tonight's gonna be tough. If we can beat KSU, we should break the KU record for home winning streak early next year.

Sorry, must have misread it. Bombing an entire arena doesn't come off as nice to me? Maybe I'm wrong. :)

I guess IU is exactly what the doctor ordered for Purdue's offensive woes. That being said, Bade is still terrible at basketball.
