Drew Crawford dropped 35 points, inc. 8 3s today. It was against North Carolina A&T, but it's pretty exciting to see that he can go off. He was looking really gun shy in the first few games.

Wow I'm literally shocked and outraged. Roy Williams was in the wrong and honestly should be talked to by the NCAA (not publicly but behind closed doors). Coaches can't do that and expect fans to keep coming to games. Also, I would say the security was at fault to. They can't throw someone out based on really nothing. They should have asked the fans around what happened. If I was the fan I would file a lawsuit and get some money out of it. Not sure he could win if it went to court but the school would probably settle to avoid the press.

Ok, but seriously, it's garbage like this that makes UNC so easy to hate. The reason all Heels hate Duke is garbage like this, but at least most Dukies embrace that identity. UNC hates Duke for being exactly what they themselves are like, basically.

I'm a little surprised Purdue didn't get jumped by Syracuse after they beat Florida and Purdue was shaky against Alabama (albeit on the road). 4 is the highest they've been ranked in more than a decade. Also interesting to note they're the only team in the Top 5 to not have a first place vote. I don't think they deserve one, just saying.

 

If they can both stay undefeated, WVU @ Purdue on New Year's Day should be a fun game to watch.

My roommate from last year is a WVU fan and the smack talking started in May before I left Indiana. If Purdue doesn't win I won't here the end of it for weeks.

 

Oh and I already know I won't be able to see any of it. It's the same day as the Sugar Bowl and work is required and there are no exceptions.

ku has requested the summer schedule of larry austin, a springfield, il 8th grader that weber has been dropping in on. i didn't realize ku needed to recruit that way. i guess self doesn't want to lose any more elite talent out of illinois.

 

well, maybe it will hamstring his efforts to land hired guns like henry in the future.

 

i was thinking that weber's strategy was a sound one, getting in on players from illinois that the national recruiters could never detect until it was too late, apparently self is red-assed now and wants to re-establish his inroads. he'll never be able to spend enough time in illinois, though, so it will be a losing effort.

one and done mercenaries don't look twice at schools like illinois and i have no problem with that. it's all handlers and payoffs and circus tricks and dads with oddly-timed administrative jobs with the university. would it be nice to land a guy like wall or henry or rose or cousins or barnes or evans or bradley? absolutely. can a team like illinois compete for a national title with 3 and 4 year players? of course. although i will concede that it's real hard to beat these rim-rocking half-men, half-beast-children that race to the hoop every single time down the court with shooters from peoria.

 

it's both frustrating and strangely satisfying to see self attempt to get in on a kid from springfield, il early. on one hand, i hate to see him anywhere in the state of illinois, he's a douchebag and he's dangerous, but on the other hand, maybe he's not confident in his abilities to waltz into a kid's house at the last minute without even recruiting him and secure a commitment anymore? maybe he's worried about the state that paid him to build recruiting inroads for another state school finally shutting him out? i don't know. but maybe he should stick to recruiting super-stud, rocket-car driving, precious juice-hoarding, mad max-hunting, great humongouses like xavier henry, as his brethren do. he'll probably wind up with just as many national championships while the little guys at illinois count our every final four as a precious, magical experience and every little shooter from lincoln township, rochelle, and metamora as a hero.

 

maybe weber can get to these super-studs early, before they become master-blasters and kamalas needing handlers and agents and PR guys and money-lenders. it's kind of funny to see self turn to this method, though. maybe he can invite the kid's junior high team to midnight madness next year.
