Uh, I never said I wanted to acquire him in the thread....I was merely pointing out what could have been.

If I wanted to talk myself up, I would have linked to this thread where I made him my "number 1 offseason target". But of course that wasn't my point, you knew that and you wanted to insult me.

this thread is the meph equivalent of that one where kylejrm totally set himself up to be made fun of for being a journalist. i think it was the one in which he said umpiring had way too few high-end jobs and way too many people wanting them.

in conclusion, jr towels, khalil greene. come on, meph. make an effort. show us something new.

Greinke is quite an odd ball, but I like him. I watched some of the game last night as well. He did an interview the other day for the Royals weekly (?) show where they asked him about how he liked his new contract. He started talking about how even though he makes a lot more money he needs to find an apartment with cheaper rent and then he starts talking about how he pays too much for Internet each month. You should have seen the interviewer's face.

lol so you wanted a pitcher everybody knew was good, was demanding a huge contract, and is injured all the time, and now you're going to try to act all smart when he stays healthy for 3 starts and has been pretty good?

in that case, let me point out that i wanted pujols this offseason.,.... and nowl ook... he's raking. oh what could have been

I'd also like to pat myself on the back for pushing for Greinke in that thread.

And he's not a pitcher everyone was all over, dexter.

Sure they were. He's young, was always a great prospect, and was already good before this season and getting better and better. There was no reason not to like him, unless you were worried about the anxiety stuff.

Point is it's not some big shock that Greinke is doing well. He was expected to be good.

I got his autograph in Wichita, the second time when he was sent back for his anxiety thing. I asked him for his autograph. He said yeah and signed it. He then told be he took a class on how to sign for people, I was like ok. He then adds that he always likes to sign along the seams because it looks cool and no one else does it. Again I was like ok. I thanked him and he just stared at me blankly. I don't know that he's all there or if it's just an act because he's shy. Either way he's got a ton of talent.

This is a story passed onto me from a friend of a friend, so take it for what it's worth. I have no doubt my friend wouldn't pass this along if he didn't think it was genuine.

This friend of a friend was at a mall in KC when Greinke walks up and asks the guy for his phone number. He wants to know if he'll be his friend, if he'd like to hangout some time. The guy declined, which I thought was a little dumb considering he's a Royals fan, it seems like an avenue for some good tickets. But the guy apparently said it was like Greinke was trying pickup a friend the way most ballplayers would pickup a girl.

If his anxiety is bad enough, I would imagine he is on some pretty strong meds.

I've known some people on different psychotropic drugs and they can def. make one distant

and emotionless.

The Royals did something right for a change, other than locking up Soria, was to give Greinke the extension. The old Royals would had traded him by now.

Greinke's got filthy stuff.

Not only would they have traded him, they probably would have traded him for crap.

Jermaine Dye netted them Neifi Perez

Carlos Beltran scored em John Buck and Mark Teahan

Johnny Damon brought Angel Berroa

Baird was awesome.

Werent we looking at Grienke heavily mid season in 07. I wanted him then, when it was much more likely he would be dealt. Now he has turned into the stud he always has had the potential to be, although he might crack any moment because of his psychological issues.

You don't have to remind me. Baird was just flat out horrible. Dayton, on the other hand, is an improvement, but I still question some of his moves, like the Horacto Rameriz (spelling?) and bringing in Kyle Farnsworth, while Adum Dunn was still out there in the FA market. I would have perferred Dunn over Farnsworth anyways, since the Royals needed some pop in the middle of the line-up, and at least, giving Guillen some protection.

While we're talking about the Royals, I know it's probably only 10 games, but based on their pitching, they are pretty solid all around thus far. I mean, is it a coincidence that:

1) Chicago White Sox.

In three games with Meche, Greinke, and Davies, the White Sox never had a chance. Other than a fluke Thome home run, their offense never had a chance. The weather had nothing to do with it. Once the Royals left town, the Sox's offense has returned to last year's form.

2) Cleveland Indians

Greinke, Davies, and even Ponson shut down their offense. Once they left KC, their bats have exploded in NY.

3) Texas Rangers

Their offense has been incredible at home including a 19 run output their last game.

Against Gil Meche and Greinke? Zero. Davis was inconsistent, but they were still in the game.

And now they blanked Cleveland.
