I hope so. I've never cared about a significant milestone any less than this one.

That's only because Canseco couldn't get that one last team to let him get to 500.

He did, but it was taken back. That would have been great for Canseco (or Sheff for that matter). Retire on 500, then three years later someone notices that one of them shouldn't count.

I have no idea why...but I've always liked Gary Sheffield the player. I liked him a lot when he came up with the Brewers and I was like 10 years old.

You can say what you want about Bonds, I dont think his effort has ever been in question. I dont think you can make the same claim about Sheffield

 

I seen Sheffields breakdown of HRs for teams played. The most he has hit for anyone was like 150. That was for the Dodgers. Has there ever been a player who has 500 HR that didnt have at least 200 for one team? My guess is there may only be a couple who dont have 300 for one team

I dont disagree, but I would rather have all that as long as he is putting in effort, then a guy who is intentionally not playing hard because he wants to be traded.

There are several gentlemen on that list without half the class Conseco had considering they got there the same way he nearly did.

I have some distaste for players that bounce around the league as much as Sheffield has. He's pretty much played on half the entire MLB franchises. Doesn't diminish his abilities or his accomplishments, but theres a 'mercenary' quality to it, that I know, all MLB players don't really have much loyalty to any one team (and shouldn't, since teams do their best to exploit players), but I still like seeing the occasional Chipper (Or even Zambrano!) who spends his entire career on one team.

 

Unfortunately, Milton Bradley is practically in the 'mercenary' category as well.
