And he singles out the next two weeks despite the person making note that he's been absolutely monstrous all month long. Also, 2 weeks does matter when it's within the context of a 6 week feast on AA pitching as a 20 year old making adjustments to the concerns many people had to begin the year.

Don't really know where to put this, but Jim Callis is leaving BA for MLB.com.

Knew something was up when he gave up his Ask BA column last week.

Lindor 5, Baez 19, put him on the wall
Posted
True 80 bat speed reminiscent of Gary Sheffield, easy plus power and a future in the infield are all things to love about Baez but he can get out of control at the plate in both approach and mechanics, though he's made strides with his consistency this year.

He's great, but he has flaws, though those flaws are being addressed. Pick a lane Kiley, or use a period.

Top 25 MLB prospects from Kiley McDaniel, including unsigned prospects: http://sbb.scout.com/2/1320072.html

- 4 of the top 10 prospects aren't actually in any system right now.

- All 4 Cub hitters are in the top 21.

I count 3 not in any system - Rodon, Tanaka and Hoffman. What am I missing?

If it's not a mistake, it looks like he doesn't believe in Javy as a SS, as he's listed as a 3B. That's probably not helping his stock.

He outright lists Baez as a 3B, which is probably why most of the difference. He basically sees Baez = Sano at this point, but oddly isn't that high on either, while Correa, Lindor and Russell are all in the top 8.

seeing Almora as 5th overall actual prospect made my eyes bug out a little bit, as did the batting champ line

Same.

Especially since he's easily the furthest from the majors of all 4.

Again, how many things does Baez have to smash before he's declared Hulk?

McDaniel LOVES Almora. He rated him the #1 prospect in the 2012 draft.

the Cubs future lineup looks terrifying

It really does. I hope the NL adopts the DH for the sole purpose of allowing us to keep Vogelbach. A future lineup of Almora, Castro, Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Soler, Vogelbach, and Alcantara (or whoever else comes along) is kind of absurd if these guys are clicking on all cylinders. That's five 30+ home run threats. Maybe a few gold glovers (even though that term is more or less useless these days), a few 20-30 SB guys, a handful of 70+ BB guys.

That lineup is pure awesomeness if it pans out (which is easier said than done, obviously)

I will never understand their penchant for posting ages to two decimal places. That's so stupid.

if there are 18 better prospects in baseball than Baez, then I must not know jack [expletive] about baseball.

Well at least two of them are our own prospects!
