Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww....

Game 1 - Thurs

Game 2 - Sat

Game 3 - Tuesday

Game 4 - Thursday

If this is the case... I am going to murder the head scheduler of the NHL.

Where are you getting this schedule?

TSN doesn't have anything, nor does the Hawks website. I saw some speculation on the Hawks boards that Game 2 would be Saturday night for an HNIC broadcast, which means Game 1 would indeed be Thursday. But it was just speculation.

I was holding out hope for a weekend home game that I might be able to come home and catch. As if I'd be able to get tickets.

This is just what I am thinking... it's the most logical way for things to work out.

As a Hawks fan, and novice hockey follower in general, I have very little knowledge about how things work in the playoffs. However, the fact that a game 7 would have been scheduled for Wednesday makes it seem a little less likely that game 1 is going to be Thursday.

I recall thinking (and probably posting) a few months ago that a deep run into the second round would be a successful season for the Hawks. I'm still thinking that's the case.

But to really whip up the fan base and create some new ones, they need that matchup in the conference finals against Detroit.

I said all along they had to win a series to really capitalize on the momentum they've built. I still think that is the case. Everything from here on out is gravy. As long as they don't embarrass themselves this round, it's not going to hurt them to lose it. They were the 4th best team in the conference and made it to the final four of the conference. They played exciting hockey, won three home playoff games and generally fulfilled all the promise they had.

Obviously winning this series and matching up with Detroit would be a tremendous boost, but they are still in line to improve going into next year and take the next step.

NHL reschedules right after every round, if all the games would have been sweeps they would be a couple of games into round 2 currently. So the scheduled game 7 has no bearing on when the next round starts, unless they actually play that game 7

Yeah, that's understandable with a bunch of sweeps. But when two series end up going 6, doesn't it behoove them to stick with whatever they had planned already?

I'm just hoping they don't play Saturday night.

Really, though, the Blackhawks were the 3rd best team in the conference, two poor performances against the Canucks notwithstanding. These are two pretty evenly-matched teams, with the Blackhawks having been the far better team in the first half of the season, and the Canucks having been the better team in the second half of the season.

Yeah, the Hawks did finish with four more points than Vancouver.

These are very evenly matched teams with no clear matchup problems like the Hawks's speed on Calgary was.

So given that, I think Vancouver has the edge with home-ice and a week of rest.

I'm not basing this on anything concrete, but it would seem to me the team with home-ice and a week of rest would be most susceptible right away. So, I think the Blackhawks' best shot at this series would be to steal game 1 right away before Vancouver knows what hit them.

What are you ticked off about? Aren't the Bulls the prime tennant at the United Center? Don't the Hawks (and the NHL) have to work around their playoff schedule?

The bummer will be the games in Vancouver won't start until 9pm Chicago time. But I'll shut up as I'm just happy the Hawks are in the second round.

Yes, get game 1 from them before they know what happened. Because IMHO Vancouver is the scariest team in the West. Their goalie is hot, the defensive core is huge and the entire team hits hard.

Wikipedia makes it sounds like Wirtz and Reinsdorf both own the building but that's all I could find and it's kind of meaningless info.

They don't really plan it at all. They don't have pre-set dates. They just have each series go when it's ready.

I always assumed the Bulls were #1 since they get most of the Saturday nights and the Hawks seem to get stuck with the Friday and Sunday games for the weekend. Or maybe it's just which league sets the schedule first.

Yes, the Bulls and Blackhawks share ownership of the building. They may have agreements in place about who gets first dibs when, but there really isn't any conflict at this point.

But Cynosure is contemplaiting physical violence* over the possible Hawks playoff schedule.

(I know he's being sarcastic.)

Like I said, I'm just glad the Hawks are continuing on. If they wanted to play at 3 in the morning, I'd get up and watch it.

I'm already pumped about this series. I think it will be a great one and I really want a showdown with the Wings. (Although I'd kindly accept playing the Ducks)

According to the Red Wings official site they are playing friday and sunday. It seems that unless there is stadium conflict of some kind in Vancouver, logically the Hawks/Canucks would have the same schedule.

It would make sense to me if they had the western teams playing on different nights. Makes it easier to schedule an early east coast game followed by late west coast.

True, but there is only 2 west coast teams left. 5 of the remaining teams are going to be eastern time zone teams and Chicago being a central. So it really dont make a difference if its Detroit or Boston or Washington.

Yes, but odds are they are going to be scheduling games as late as possible for both western series to try and maximize eyeballs out of SoCal and western Canada.
