Yes, but odds are they are going to be scheduling games as late as possible for both western series to try and maximize eyeballs out of SoCal and western Canada.

possibly. Of course this is one of the major problems with the Wings being in the Western conference. They are the number 1 national tv draw. They are an Eastern time zone team. How late are you willing to start their home games to appease Boston or Washington(maybe Pittsburgh)? Also if you are an Anaheim fan it really does have to suck to have your team play at 4.

Either way for Friday and Sunday it doesnt make any scheduling conflicts to have Hawks/Canucks playing the same day as Ducks/Wings. They can tweek the schedule after that. If they started the Hawks/Canucks on Thurs than that gives the Hawks a chance to complain about not getting an extra day like Anaheim. I am guessing the NHL would want to avoid that if there isnt any stadium issues.

I thought Pittsburgh was the biggest national draw. Crosby is about the only known NHL player out there. It would be a stretch to start any eastern conference game on Thursday, considering both series depend on outcomes of tonight's game. They are probably Friday/Sunday games, allowing them to showcase Crosby again on NBC. I'd bet the Chicaco/Vancouver series starts Thursday. There isn't much difference between 2 off nights and 3. Although I assume they flew home already, and it could be tough to fly right back to western Canada. I'm hoping for Friday, because a Saturday game is going to be a conflict for me personally.

CSN reported this morning that the team went straight to Vancouver.

Well that's good. Then I'm guessing they would prefer a Thursday start and would be less likely to complain about a lack of an extra day of rest.

Yeah, I see no reason to not just start on Thursday. I don't think it's a disadvantage.

Yep: keep the ball rolling.

So now that the first round is over, can I assume that ALL games will be shown in their entirety across the country?

Not quite yet. Center Ice guarantees that you'll see all first and second round games, which leads me to assume that there might be situations on a weeknight where Versus will have to choose between two games.

No...though they do try. But there are going to be nights where games are being played in Detroit and Boston or Washington. Also in Chicago and some other eastern time zone teams.

According the the Vancouver Sun, looks like a Thursday start to this series. Looks like 8pm Chicago Time faceoffs for games 1 and 2.

Although it has yet to be made official, it appears the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks will open their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series Thursday at GM Place.

The National Hockey League is expected to release the schedule tonight, once the two Eastern Conference first-round series come to a conclusion.

Canucks players said today they were gearing up for a Thursday start. It is expected the Canucks and Blackhawks will play Game 2 on Saturday with Games 3 and 4 in Chicago next Tuesday and Thursday

I'm fine with this, since it looks like the Hawks went straight to Vancouver from Calgary. They get an extra day of rest when they come home (both sunday and monday off). Makes sense. Also, this sets up game 5 for Saturday as well in Vancouver, which should make CBC happy.

Capitals win their series over the Rangers.

If my downstairs neighbors didn't already know this, they do now. I hope they don't call the cops. It's celebrating time!!

I have homicidal thoughts right now :-D

That is just the worst [expletive] scheduling ever (for me).

No matter to me really about the schedule. I just can't wait until tomorrow night now!

It's more of a selfish thing for me... I hate trying to NOT hear the score for a 4 hour class... AND it's my birthday!

Are any of the second round games going to be on CSN? Otherwise I can't watch any of the series and this will leave me very upset.

I doubt it. They are all listed as being on Versus, and there is no "local tv" option listed, like there was in round 1. There aren't any scheduling conflicts right now, unless you count the 8pm/10:30pm starts on Tuesday and Thursday for the western series. You should really find a place to go with Versus.

I just knew that since Vancouver is the last Canadian team in the playoffs that CBC would ask the NHL to schedule it so that the Canucks ended up playing Saturday on "Hockey Night in Canada".
