I was just thinking about a team that fielded the most annoying/reviled players in the league. Not just to Cubs fans, but overall.

I would start with Pierzynski at catcher, Valverde as closer and Hunter Pence in the OF. That would leave 7 positions and a SP. Any ideas?

I took this as guys who are jerks not guys you hate for being really good or something like that.

How about both?

I'm surprised I didn't think of him first when I saw this thread, but here's the captain of the team...

Manny.

3B: Alex Rodriguez, the most overrated, bush-league tool in MLB.

Kent played 157 games at 3rd over his career. And in all 157 he had a gigantic stick up his ass and a silly pornstache. That's more than enough Massengill and more than enough games to qualify.

Roy Oswalt RP

Why is he on the list, he's just an uber-redneck.

Bench:Ty Cobb

What's he doing on the douche bench? He should be your starting CF.

I would say putting a player at a position that he played at in around 5% of his games and never in the last 12 years of his career is a cop out.

Wait, how is A-Rod overrated?

A-Rod is consistently named by the media - and many fans - as the greatest player of our time, and some argue that he is the greatest of all time since he stands a good chance of breaking the all-time home run record. Rodriguez has put up outstanding numbers, but a lot of that is arguably steroid-induced.

And then there's the post-season argument, which my friend, the Yankee fan, would surely want me to bring up... But since we don't make "clutch" arguments, I'll just stop typing now. 8-[
