i can't believe anybody can still defend lou's in-game managing. it's absolutely brutal. that decision to send the runners with bradley up was the turning point of the game. should have been bases loaded and no outs and instead it turns into a double play.

really though i'm worried about how hurt soto and marmol are

Is anything other than speculation leading to talk of Marmol being hurt?

Not a thing.

I missed part of the game, so what happened to soto?

Taken out of the game with "right shoulder soreness."

What is this about Marmol being hurt? Just cause he didnt warm up or was there a report that he is hurt?

I think it was the fact that he didn't warm up, which made people think he was/is injured. I don't know if there's a correlation or not, but it was odd that Lou decided to bring in Gregg after Cotts got into that mess.

Marmol threw 25 pitches last night. Lou saw last year how Marmol wore down. I'm pretty sure he realizes that he needs to take it easy on him.

Which is a prudent approach to keeping him healthy. However, if you're gonna use Gregg, do it to start the inning.

Not much to take from this game. We got beat, we got held down by a pitcher that normally owns us in his ball park, and Dempster pitched reasonably well. That's about it.

Overall, I don't like the fact that we've only scored 6 runs in two games at a ball park normally pretty easy to score runs in, but we did go up against Oswalt and Wandy, who does very well against us at home.

161-1 still looks good anyway.

Ryan Freaking Theriot needs to quit thinking hes Vince Coleman on the base paths with our number 4 hitter at the plate. Seriously Ryan QUIT STEALING YOU ARENT GOOD AT IT!

I find it hard to believe that Theriot's running was entirely of his own volition.

Today's loss was a frustrating one. We couldn't hit Rodriguez in MMP again, and the crummy 2/3 of the Astros lineup beat us with seeing eye singles and bloops. Hopefully Soto is alright.

As for Lou, the only thing he did wrong was send the runners, and leave Miles in the game. We gave up at least 1 out(maybe 2) with the heart of the order up because of the running. As for leaving Miles in the game, he's an awful defender at short. Theriot is no wizard, but he's better at everything than Miles, and shouldn't have been removed unless he hurt himself running. The rest of Lou's moves were the right ones, he pinch hit Miles at the right time, and used the bullpen in the correct order. Adding Kosuke for defense in the 10th is a good idea too.

EDIT: Whoops, I missed the first couple batters of the 10th, I didn't realize he had Cotts face Rodriguez and Berkman. Bad idea. Not worth it when you can go to Gregg at the beginning of the inning.

So are most people assuming Lou called for Theriot to run with Bradley at the plate and 2 outs in the 8th or that Ryan went on his own?

I'm assuming he got the green light and made the decision to go on his own, as opposed to getting the "must steal" sign.
