if it makes you feel better, notre dame lost to holy cross (who was the better team) in 2005 despite notre dame getting an undeserved home game. and they only drew 2,500 so they didn't even justify the home game by turning out a solid crowd.

Exactly. No one is going to go to this game. It's going to be embarrassing. No one wants to go watch a group of ridiculous underachievers bow out against one of Memphis's C-USA punching bags. I'm going to be at work so I won't even be watching.

I can't even describe my level of dumbfoundedness over that blog rant, as if the NIT means even one tiny little thing.

One of the worst things the NIT can do is give an underachieving team a home bid. No body is going to show up to that game. In 2001-2002 Iowa played LSU at home and nobody showed up to an Iowa loss.

To get good attendance they should let the teams who don't go to the post-season much host or let teams who weren't expected to make the post-season host.

Yeah, I refused to go to SIU's NIT game last year against Oklahoma St.

That's an interesting idea, but I'm sure they would want to reward the better teams the home game so the fans can see them play a 'meaningful' game at least one more time.

:-k I guess no one cares about the NIT then.

wait what the [expletive]. there's a CIT now? so there's 4 postseason tourneys?

Yep, a total of 129 teams will be playing in the postseason. I, for one, like the CIT. Who wouldn't want to participate in a tournament that's sponsored by the same group that produces penetrative shows like College Basketball's 50 Most Eligible.

Pacific's taking the whole thing.

I'm a little surprised to not see Iowa in either the CBI or CIT tourneys. They'd probably be a favorite if they played.

You have to have a winning record to play in those tournaments.

Look above you. Clearly you don't to play in the CBI.

CIT you do. CBI you don't though. (as evidenced by St. Johns, Oregon State etc...)

Hmm ... guess you're right. I have to think Iowa was at least invited, but they must have declined. They wouldn't be a favorite in the CBI anyways.

It's more of a joke than anything but a few friends and myself decided to make an NIT pool with the entry being $1. It'd be nice to come up with $10.

I have a final four of St. Mary's, Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and Miami with Notre Dame winning it all.

penn st was down 3 with 5 seconds left against george mason (a school named after a character on "24" apparently) but talor battle hit a three as time expired and then made 2 more in the first minute of overtime. cornley and pringle did nothing all night.
