I'm not familiar with the particulars of his DL stints, but isn't the problem with Milton Bradley seemingly always something to do with his legs? I will believe he'll play good defense when I actually see him out there playing good defense and not hobbling around on crutches.

Although not the hitter that Bradley is, this is shaping up to be similar to Rondel White's stint with the Cubs.

Bradley has a habitually tight quad.

Hehe, "Rondell White" is one of the first names that popped into my mind when we acquired Bradley. I'm sure I wasn't the only one.

I heard they are working on a new invention that could help prevent quad (and muscle) tightness... it's supposed to be called "stretching" or something like that. Personally, I think it sounds like witchcraft or some sort of voodoo...

Milton will be back in the lineup DHing on Wednesday per Carrie Muskat.

He's also expected back in the outfield on Friday.

I hope they didn't water the field or a ball is hit his way. Maybe we could drtess him in a football uniform for his own safety

I didn't mean to imply that he was hurt; there was no game thread and (unfortunately) this seemed the thread most germane to the topic. I assume he simply got his at bats and then they sat him. I haven't heard anything to indicate otherwise.

i thought i'd just be the first one to make wild and unfounded assumptions about his health.

How many times are you going to do this this year?

BP has an unflattering article about the Milton Bradley signing: http://baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=8578#commentMessage

I've been against this signing from day one, and I'm really hoping Bradley can do something to alleviate my concerns. I would've preferred any number of options, even Bobby Abreu. Especially for one year.

"Bottom line is, I'm as serious as a heart attack about baseball and winning. My last goal in life, my bucket list, is winning a World Series, and that's it. I don't care about personal accolades, fame. I don't need any of that. Money is great because my family is taken care of, but the only thing that's going to make me happy is winning."

At the time of the signing, Abreu would have wanted the same years and money. So the question is not would you rather have Abreu for 1 year, the question is would Hendry have been OK starting the season with Hoffpauir in RF and trying to trade for someone later on if necessary.

This is absurd. Who cares what he wanted? What matters is what the actual market was. A lot of guys didn't get what they wanted because the demand for their services just wasn't there. Once the Yankees and Cubs made their moves, nobody was out there signing. If the Cubs don't sign Bradley, they could have had any of these other guys for less.

That being said, we know all this about Bradley. You hope he can play 300 games over the next three years, and be ready for the playoffs. That probably means lots of off-days in April and May, again in September, and potentially a missing month in between.
