lol, if rivers is a bitch, he's a pretty awesome bitch

sounds like a weird thing to say, jersey

I'm talking about the way he carries himself on the field. He's really good, and that's the shame because I hate jackasses that are also really good. Some people get off on jerks who can back it up, but I find it very annoying. Rivers and Delhomme (with the constant whining) are the two QBs I least enjoy watching because of how they act on the field. On the other hand, I want to hate Brady because I can't stand the Patriots, but there's really nothing to hate about Brady.

oh, i gotcha

Some would say Cutler is a jerk that backs it up.

I know. But personally I never held that opinion of him before he came to Chicago, as I didn't see it on the field like with those other two guys. I think his issue has been a few questionable words comparing himself to Elway and coincidentally, Rivers. Now that he's a Bear, I don't care about how he got here, and I thought the new coach was mostly to blame by foolishly trying to replace the incumbent franchise QB with "his guy" who hadn't done a heck of a lot in comparison to Cutler. Had Rivers become a Bear I probably would have grown to be fine with him, but that's a different story.

I do find the depiction of Cutler as the emo kid among NFL QB's amusing. But to me it's more tolerable than the loudmouth douchebag that is Rivers.

If Cutler could back it up the Broncos would have been in the playoffs last year.

Wait...you don't honestly believe that, do you?

Nice try. Cutler's job isn't to play defense, or call defensive plays, so how was it his fault the Broncos didn't make the playoffs last yr?

Cutler completed 62.3% of his passes, had a 25:18 TD:INT ratio and an 86 QB rating. His stats were just fine last year, if not very good. Especially considering the Broncos had the 30th ranked defense in yards allowed and the 29th ranked defense in points allowed. Cutler was 10th in the NFL in yards per attempt and 9th in the NFL in yards per completion.

One player can't carry a team in the NFL.

That defense gave up 112 points the last 3 games too.

Almost 40 points a game. Brutal.

John Clayton casually plays off the fact that Brett Favre is all about Brett Favre and little else

Q: Why is nothing made of the fact of Brett Favre's negative impact on a locker room? A quick Google search can find quotes in stories from Thomas Jones, Kerry Rhodes, Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings, and just this morning on a sports radio station in Boston there was a clip of Matt Hasselbeck explaining how Favre would show up 90 minutes late for quarterback meetings without any apology. For all the talk that Terrell Owens is a bad teammate, why is Favre's wishy-washy, "me-first" attitude summarily ignored?

Craig in Quincy, Mass.

A: The reason you don't hear much about the negative impact is because I don't think he is a negative influence in the locker room. If he was, the Jets would not have had an 8-3 start last season. He had a 13-win season in 2007 with the Packers. The guy loves the game, and his personality in the huddle wins over teammates because he makes it fun. Sure, the Jets were sniping a little bit after the season because they were frustrated about their finish. But they wouldn't have been 8-3 without Favre's 70 percent completions over the first 11 games. He's 39. How many 25-year-old guys does he need to hang around with?

Schefter reporting that Favre has little support in the locker room and that there are "schisms" in the locker room between backers of each QB. To be expected, I guess... but if Favre struggles early, I'd expect this to become more of an issue.

I hope not to paint with too broad of a brush here, but I wonder if the different groups are aligned by race? Regardless, if the Vikings win, this stuff will be forgotten.

The thing about a story like that is there's no way of proving it or disproving it. The local reporters and the other people ESPN have had stationed out there haven't said anything about it, but if Schefter reports it, there's really no way to dispute it.

Tarvaris probably does have a lot of supporters and friends. He's been there 3 years and a 25 year old black dude fits in a lot better in an NFL locker room than a 40 year old white guy who came in late.

It's a good story but like the Cutler/Urlacher story, it's pretty irrelevant. The more vocal T-Jack supporters heading into camp were defensive guys. The receivers, TE's and OL have been the guys giddy about his arm and reads in practice and saying the huddle is now completely different.

If Favre wins no one will care and everyone will be on his side. If he's bad he was going to lose support anyways.

yes, your typical nfl lockerroom.

Brandon Marshall is a douche of the highest order. Do they not have anyone on that roster that will put him in his place. Jay Cutler would probably have tried to stab him by now if he were still there.

I can't possibly imagine this happening with the Ravens, Steelers, Patriots, Colts, Vikings, Packers, Bears, Eagles, 49ers, Titans, Jags, etc. McDaniels is either going to surprise the hell out of everyone or be a complete disaster. And I would put about an 80% chance on the latter.

The Broncos are set to be a complete disaster of a team this year.

Marshall suspended for the rest of the preseason for conduct detrimental to the team.

He's making Cutler look like he was nothing but a professional.
