It was a very believable story, it just seems a little too convenient to me that the one time he accidentally uses a corked bat, it happens to explode all over the infield. I don't really care because the advantage it gave him was pretty small, and Sammy didn't hit many bucket homeruns anyway. It does show that he's willing to cheat to get an advantage, which when added to the rest of the circumstantial evidence makes me believe 100% that he did steroids.

Cheating = awesome baseball.

I love pretty much any form of baseball cheating, steroids included, though I miss the abundance of amphetamines far more than anything else. The game is in a much sorrier place without them.

You can't automatically place him in that group and I think it's unfair to do so. If you want to use the corked bat against him, be my guest. It doesn't really help a player that much (if at all), but he did intend to cheat by using it. Should a corked bat keep him out of the hall of fame? I say no. You can disagree.

I'm putting McGwire, Clemens and Bonds in the Hall too if I had a chance.

But if McGwire has trouble cracking 25%, there's no way Sosa gets in.

I'd bet Sosa is looked upon more favorably than McGwire. Idiots view McGwire as a one dimensional HR or nothing hitter.

Pretty stupid IMO.

But not 50% of the vote better.

I agree. And even though most assume Sosa was on the juice, no one has ever directly pointed their finger at him, he hadn't been under suspicion before the witch hunt began as Mac was (the andro thing), and he didn't give as poor a performance in Washington as Mac did.

I'd say Sosa is looked upon a lot more favorably than McGwire is at this point, for right or wrong.

LOL at Tony LaRussa

La Russa: Proof of Mark McGwire’s “certain integrity” makes him a Hall of Famer

By Derrick Goold

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

LAS VEGAS — Given the chance to celebrate and comment on Rickey Henderson’s appearance on the Hall of Fame ballot for the first time, St. Louis Cardinals manager Tony La Russa also seized the opportunity to stump for another dynamo member of his Oakland Athletics teams who will be on the ballot.

On his third try, Mark McGwire belongs in the Hall of Fame, La Russa believes.

It’s a matter a of “integrity.”
