That could be hell in early April if its a long winter and will be hell in the summer when it's 90 degrees with 95 percent humidity.

in other words, Chicago

behold the double header. if early spring games are canceled, I'm sure they will find a way to make them up. believe me, an open air stadium in mpls is waaaaaaaaaaaaay better then the metrodome will ever be, even in early april

I don't understand the pansies complaining about April weather.

I'd rather attend a subzero outdoor game then a perfect temperature game in a dome. Even if its baseball.

I'm trying to figure out how people KNOW games wont be fun there in early April, yet they dont live here. I dont think people understand what the metrodome is like, not to mention their perception of April in mpls....

why does everyone talk about how fun cold-weather football games are but then complain about how miserable cold-weather baseball games are

I'm not saying that they should've built another dome because of the weather, but logic and the technology of today would lead me to believe that a retractable dome would've been the best option, since you get both outdoor games and indoor games

that would be quite the dewpoint.

minneapolis isn't that bad in the summer. minneapolis has an average high of 83 in july; they only hit 90 five times in july 2008. it's also not that humid in the summer because they're so far from the biggest source of humid air (gulf of mexico). of course it can get humid and unpleasant outside but their worst days are pretty much like every day in miami and atlanta, and most of their games will be played at night anyway. i actually would guess that summer is probably quite pleasant in minnesota.

if they would have demanded a retractable roof, they would never have gotten the funding from the state, it was too expensive. they tried that first.

And I agree with imb. baseball or football who cares

summer is nice, hence the excitement for the open air stadium

Wasn't saying that was the average Minnesota summer day, just that there will be plenty of days like that or close to it in the summer and on those days it wouldn't be fun to sit outside in the sun for three hours.

I've been to the Metrodome many times for Twins games since my grandparents live in Bloomington. I never really understood what everybody complained about with the dome. It wasn't the greatest stadium ever, but it was far from the worst.

The attendance figures next April and may (and beyond) are going to really be hurt by this open air stadium. I understand the need for a new stadium in Minny but as a Brewer fan I can tell you how nice it is going to Brewer games now as opposed to County Stadium during cold months. Hopefully I am wrong though as I like the Twins organization (the fans I can do without).

maybe, but both teams play one, maybe two day games a week. evenings are probably great up there, not much humidity and temperatures in the 60s and 70s.

Summer in Mpls. is great. It gets hot, but the humidity isn't usually too bad.

Where is this in relation to the dome?

Looks like the stadium is coming along quite nicely. I can't wait to see it finished, especially considering how nice the skyline view will be:

If they couldn't get the funding for a retractable roof, it might have still been a decent idea to build it without the retractable roof, but where you could add one later. Not sure how feasible that would be, but I'm guessing they freeze their butts off playing night games there in April and late September.
