I'd love some sort of rational explanation behind Mississippi St. pulling the #24 class in the country.

27 recruits. When your rankings are comprised solely of total number of points, you can rank high even if you have almost exclusively 3 stars. Also how teams like S Carolina and UNC are top 10 or close. 29 commits. Do they even have enough room for all those players (Alabama signed more than they could take last year, as I recall).

Bama signed I think 32 players. So many didn't actually end up going that ND was retroactively named the top class by the major services after the dust settled. I don't know why schools do that, but if they can get away with it...

The SEC is really bad about oversigning. Arkansas, South Carolina, Ole Miss, and Auburn.

I know Ark has 3 kids that are not making their grades, and I think 2 commits count back to last year. Rumors are that Ole Miss and SC both have double digit academic casualties. If Ole Nutt stays true to form, he will tell some of these kids to get lost before they see campus or they will be exiled on the bench. Classy.

If nothing else, I'm happy to have a LOI from Kevin Newsome. Pat Devlin transferring almost put a huge monkey wrench into things. (Doesn't hurt that PSU signed him away from Michigan, bwa ha ha)

If it wasnt for Tate Forcier then it would be funny. I havent seen a offense with 2 qb sets yet. It was a bigger pickup for PSU than a loss for UM because of the depth reason.

Michigan has depth at QB? Forcier and a pile of crap doesn't really equate to depth imo.

So Ronnie Wingo...I am hearing mixed reports about this guy that he is soft and scared of contact. Anybody got info on this guy?

I don't know about soft and scared of contact, but I had read that he's a great athlete without a real football position. He could be anything from a running back to a wideout to any defensive back to even a linebacker or tight end, but he may not be any good at any of those positions.

Jarvis Jones to USC per Rivals. That takes the sting off Te'o and Burfict a bit.

son of a bitch

That's what I was thinking.

Rumor is NuKeese Richardson to Tenn. He was waiting to see if Debose was switching or not.

I'm hoping you're right.

hes staying at UF.

LULZ. What number will he be wearing?

Nice get for UCLA. I was just reading that he may delay his commitment to see if his high school coach got a coaching position at Utah.

Yeah, that rumor had been going on for a while.

Hasiak and XSF on the same day is so huge for this depleted line. Now we need to get Carroll to flip from your school. :)

How many 4 star QB recruits in one class is necessary, thats what im saying. No they dont have depth outside of this class and Steven Threet. They could of used Newsome but it wasnt a big huge blow. From what i understand without Newsome PSU would be a really bad position worse than UM, maybe not Sheridan bad but bad.

Ole Miss went nuts today, moving from 31st to 16th.

I could be mistaken, but didn't they sign 32-34 players?

Someone will be off the team next season and doesn't yet know it.

Necessary? Depends on the situation. But UM has 1 now, right? It's not like they had a stud QB (or even a couple really good QBs) on the roster and then had 3-4 commits. They have a 4-star signed today and a bunch of guys that didn't look so good last year. If I'm Michigan, I'd want as many quality QBs signed today as possible (which is likely going to be 2, at most).

correct. With Devlin transferring, I'm pretty sure PSU would have had no scholarship player to backup Clark at QB. Unless there's some surprise today, Newsome will be the de facto backup as a true freshman

One hellova signing day for LSU. Some are saying this may be the best recruiting class in the school's history. Rivals has LSU #1, Scout has them #2, and #1 on ESPN.

With Davenport, Randle, Shepard, and Loston- there is a lot of talent coming to Baton Rouge for next year.

LSU did lose DeAngelo Benton to Auburn. Benton had signed the past two years with LSU, but couldn't get accademically eligible. He had said only yesterday he would honor his earlier commitment to LSU, but this morning decided to sign with Auburn.

Getting Randle, of course, softens that blow considerably.

More is better, cant disagree with that. Yes they have 1 legit Qb and others arent even of the meh category. They did sign 4* ATH D. Robinson today who will get a chance to play qb so that is a form of depth in case of injury or Forcier is a bust.
