Draft starts 4pm eastern Saturday. I miss the early start.

Detroit is on the clock, and I really think they should look elsewhere than Stafford. He's just not 1st pick worthy. The only reason he's a candidate there is because he's a QB and they need one. But if they don't take him, he could potentially fall to 10 or lower. Guys who are taken #1 overall are guys should be guys who stand no chance of falling past 2 or 3.

There's been a good amount of predraft trading, and that may lead into a lot of draft day trades.

I seem to recall shorter draft times per team last year. Do we have any idea what time frame the Bears will be able to make their first pick?

Who the hell thought a 4pm start was a good idea?

Yeah, 10am EST seems better. That way I can be watching it with my morning coffee at 7am.

I want to say 10 minutes for first round 7 minutes for second. That would put the start of the 2nd round as late as 9:00pm, but my guess is it will be close to 7:30/8:00. Then the Bears pick, 17th in the second, would be around 9:00-10:30, when game 5 of the Blackhawks series is set to begin.

Why would you get up that early on a Saturday?

Lots of talk about Harvin being the target for the Vikings. Childress went down to meet with him this week and all of the local media is saying they're super high (insert pot joke) on him. The reports are that they think his ball skills are out of this world and his potential may be too much to pass up. Could all be a smokescreen, we'll see.

I wouldn't have any problem with it. He's probably a boom or bust guy but I think they're in a position to take that risk. Probably the only spots where a rookie could become a starter next year are RT and WR. At 22 you're probably getting the 5th best tackle in the draft. They could use depth at DT and insurance at CB, but if they're at all comfortable with Harvin's character, he would be my pick.

Neither would I have a problem if Minnesota took Harvin, because recent draft history suggests Minnesota don't developed WR any better then Chicago or Detroit (ie Rice and Williamson).

The problem with this draft, though, is that there's not a clear #1 guy. The Lions best option is to trade down, but nobody wants that spot.

The Titans have apparently contacted the Cardinals about swapping Tennessee's 1st rounder for Anquan Boldin. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat (or less), but I suspect Arizona will hold out for a 1st and 3rd.

No deal is imminent, according to the reports.

I just had a flashback to the 2005 draft...and it was horrible.

I think the talent is better in this draft, but it definitely has a feel similar to that one.

I get up at around that time everyday. I was actually up at 5:30 this morning. The dogs eat a 7am, the kids go to school at 7:20am, once you get into the ritual, it kind of sticks with you.

I remember one analyst saying, "The 49ers picked the worst year to have the worst record."

Well Williamson was with the old staff and was just a horrible pick. I felt so at the time. They thought they needed a burner to replace Moss and forgot to see if he knew how to catch.

I'm still holding out hope for Sidney. He looked good his rookie year and was never healthy last year. He needs to put up this year though.

The Cardinals have apparently now reduced their demands for Boldin.

I really don't see any real negatives with the Titans surrendering a 2nd round pick and, for instance, Lavelle Hawkins for Boldin. Heck, I'd throw in Willie Mays Hayes for Boldin.

If Arizona is TRULY willing to take a 2nd round offer plus considerations for Bolden, I don't understand why the Bears don't jump in. Bolden is clearly better then anybody the Bears could draft at 49 anyways. I don't expect the Bears to take a shot at Bolden, but I wish they would. But if not Chicago, then Tennessee would be a nice fit for Bolden.

It could well be cost for them. Both Cutler and Boldin are likely to be paid significantly more than a draft pick will be - do the Bears have the cap room for him and the rest of their picks/needs?

Most likely. Cutler isn't taking up much room at all, I'm pretty sure less than whatever the 1st pick would have been. If they spend no money on a 1st or 2nd, they will easily have room to sign the 3-7s. Also, with Cutler and Boldin, their other needs would disappear.
