ESPN is reporting that the Broncos will hire Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels as their new head coach.

Broncos owner Pat Bowlen sent COO Joe Ellis to Boston Thursday for a lengthy second interview with McDaniels, who, according to sources, was one of two finalists along with Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

It's supposed to be announced Monday.

Josh is a canton guy. So, as long as the Broncos aren't playing the Browns, I wish him the best of success!

I also read on another board that the Houston Chronicle's John McClain believes if Schwartz leaves the Titans will join the Saints in pursuing Gregg Williams. Williams used to be DC for the Titans.

McClain also said he believes there is an 80% chance the Titans re-sign Albert Haynesworth. I'm not sure what his connections are, but he seems fairly reliable. I really like all of that news, as well.

On his blog, Adam Schefter is reporting that he's heard Mike Nolan to Denver as DC is a done deal.

Also, Steve Spagnuolo and Brian Schottenheimer are the leading candidates for the Jets job and Ron Rivera will be interviewed by the Lions for the HC job - all according to Schefter.

Good luck Tony. It's been a wonderful run.

Sad day for Colt fans I guess - though not entirely unexpected.

Is it pretty certain that Caldwell will take over for him? Or will they still look around a bit?

It's definitely sad, but I've expected him to retire the past two seasons.

I think it's pretty much set in stone that Caldwell takes over. With his 26-63 collegiate record and some of the available names, I'm dubious if that's the correct decision. Continuity is important, though.

He'll have Peyton's trust I guess.

When does the Bears Cover 2 coach raiding begin?

Wow I didn't even see he was gone....Good luck even though I'm a bears fan and despise the Colts....He was a great coach and seemed like a good guy

The Jags have shaken up their front office and named Gene Smith their GM.

(Team owner Wayne) Weaver said Smith will have final say in all personnel decisions, a clear deviation from the way the Jaguars handled things in recent years. Coach Jack Del Rio, former personnel chief James "Shack" Harris and Smith used a consensus approach the last six seasons.

Apparently, Pioli's hire will likely mean Herm Edwards' departure. Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo is apparently the top candidate.

The decision to hire Pioli likely means Herman Edwards will not be back as Chiefs head coach next season. Among the top candidates to succeed Edwards is New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Jim Harbaugh is no longer a candidate for an NFL job.

There has been speculation in recent weeks that Harbaugh might interview for NFL openings in Detroit or Oakland and that he reportedly had met with the New York Jets last Thursday about their head coaching vacancy.

"In response to persistent reports speculating my interest in other coaching positions, I would like to unequivocally state that I am 100 percent committed to Stanford and I look forward to leading this football program for years to come," Harbaugh said in a statement released by Stanford on Tuesday.
