Wow...this is high praise:

Matt Forte is the next Brian Westbrook. His 5.4 YPA on runs with zero Point of Attack (POA) block losses last season was superb. He is also a terrific receiver (63 receptions for 477 yards) and can pass block quite well. If the Bears can apply the Eagles’ approach to using Westbrook to Forte, he could supplant Adrian Peterson as the best running back in the N.F.C. North as early as this season.

It's also a flat out lie. If Peterson is healthy, Forte can't hold his jock. Doesn't mean Forte is bad, just that AP is that good.

There was about 200 total yards seperating the two last season.

Pretty sure that will increase this year.

Forte is not in the same league as AP, and there's nothing wrong with that.

Didn't Peterson miss some games? Also, Chester Taylor had to have gotten more carries than Kevin Jones/bad Adrian Peterson did on the Bears.

What were their respective yards per touch? I'm guessing APs was much higher.

Nope. He had at least 17 carries in every regular season game.

Yards per touch

Forte 4.5

AP 4.9

Carries

Forte 316

Jones 34

AP 363

Taylor 101

AP was better last year, but not by an enormous margin, unless we look strictly at rush stats.

FWIW, Forte figures to not get nearly as many receptions this year... but by the same token his YPC could very well improve with the existence of a real passing game.

The eye test is enough to tell me that Peterson is significantly better than Forte and every other runningback in the league.

At rushing, yes.

Yards per touch seems a bit unfair in favor of the running back who receives a lot of passes.

It would need to include zeroes for incomplete passes intended for the back to be a fair comp, imo.

Well incompletes can be the QB's fault too though...so you're penalizing the back for something that may not have been his fault.

Drops would probably be better, although that's a difficult stat to find for running backs....
