I don't know why everyone is assuming a loss at home vs. NO. The Saints have won 1 road game this year, and that was against 1-10 KC. They've never had success in cold weather including last year vs. a dismal Bears team. Granted, they did move the ball pretty well, but they couldn't stop a lackluster Bears offense.

I'm not assuming that is a loss. I actually have fairly high expectations for a win there. It's not about Bear weather, but it is based largely on a dome team without a great history of playing outdoors, including against the Bears the past 2 years. The short week is the bigger story for that week, however.

Meh, they haven't played an easy road schedule by any means though

@ Washington (loss by 5)

@ Denver (loss by 2)

@ Carolina (loss by 23)

@ Atlanta (loss by 14)

@ Kansas City (win by 10)

Yep, and it's a short week where the Bears don't have to travel at all.

@ Washington (loss by 5) -- blew a 9-point 4th quarter lead

@ Denver (loss by 2)-- got down early 21-3,

@ Carolina (loss by 23)-- complete whipping, no explantion necessary

@ Atlanta (loss by 14) -- got down 27-6, made it closer late

Granted not an easy schedule, but they were blown out in 3 of those games early before being able to throw the ball at will to keep the score closer.

And don't forget, while the Bears have lost to every NFC South team this year, they've had a late lead against every one of them and New Orleans is the most flawed of those teams.

Is there any reason why Brees won't torch Vasher/Tillman as he did the better GB corners?

He played that game in a dome and he'll play the Bears at night outdoors in Chicago during December. Plus, if Tommie Harris is awake that week he could make a huge difference.

the saints have done a good job of protecting brees though. if the bears don't get pressure, they'll get torched.

Yeah, I'm hoping it's bitterly cold that night, like that game against Atlanta a few years ago when Mr. Cell Block looked like his only desire was to get out of the cold as quickly as possible.

Accuweather's extended forecast for early that week is highs in the 20's and lows in the teens.

For a night game, that won't be pleasant. But I don't think it will be cold enough to impact the game in a huge way.

Any precision passing offense is going to be affected by that type of cold, especially an offense that plays half it's games in domes and 2 more in Florida and Carolina.

Obviously I hope so. But on the other hand, Brees played at Purdue. This won't be his first experience in cold weather.

Heh, I remember these arguments right before the NFC Championship in 2007.

And...um....Orton played at Purdue too.

"You get to November, you have to run the ball," an appreciative Orton said.

So anyway, the Bears don't play New Orleans for 16 days, they have Minnesota in 5 days and the result will be far more important than the Saints game.

Yes. Vikes special teams still suck. Gus Ferrotte still blows. Those are clearly the ways the Bears will win the game, if they win. They gotta keep Peterson in check. He has dominated the Bears so far in his 3 games. Gotta keep him under 100-110 ish. Gotta get turnovers and make big plays in the return/block game like last time.

Even earlier today I picked the Vikings over the Bears, but now all the sudden I'm having a change of heart. The Bears seem to play well in the dome, notching wins over Indy, Detroit and St. Louis so far this year and looking good offensively. They lost a narrow one to the Falcons too, and didn't look horrible offensively either. I guess it will have to depend on which Bears defense steps up, and if the Bears can contain AP. If they do that, I feel confident they can move the ball ok on offense, and force Frerotte into mistakes.

Yeah, the D and ST will need to create either scores (BEST!) or field position. Otherwise, the Bears O won't be able to keep up with A-Pete. I don't think that's any secret, but it hasn't been happening and if has to.

If you get pressure on Gus he'll stink. You didn't get much pressure on him in Chicago although he still did make a few terrible mistakes.

Our defense is very solid and the front four has continued to get better. The biggest spot to exploit is the middle of the field. Napoleon Harris is a major downgrade from E.J. Henderson and has really struggled in the passing game. Greenway and Leber are having great years as is Winfield. It's also helped getting Madieu Williams back.

Special teams have been awful and cost us the first Bears game. Thankfully Hester looks pedestrian this year.

If they lose they're probably toast. Childress may be coaching for his job. Win and they're in good shape. The result of the Williams Wall's appeal will obviously be huge.

Man I wish the Williams 'brothers' would get their suspensions already. That would change everything IMO.

I was listening to Hub yesterday and he said the time between their appeal hearing and the NFL's decision has been unusually long.

They're obviously stalling on it because the Vikes are in a close race, and they'd rather not pull two primary players off a team battling for a playoff spot. I'll bet the league office is praying the Bears can win this one.

Tell me about it! There defense is nothing without them anchoring the middle
