As if the Chiefs weren't bad enough, they may be about to make a dumb decision to make them worse. Fox Sports is reporting that the Chiefs are considering offering a multi-year deal to Daunte Culpepper.

Culpepper is looking to hook up with a team on a multi-year deal and the Chiefs appear willing to at least discuss it with him.

He's a decent QB when healthy, but he's just not healthy enough consistently enough for a multi-year deal.

See, this is what I thought we'd be getting this season from Ted Ginn.

I really hope he can keep it up.

You and me both. Funny how he went from 5th on the team in receiving yards to first in three hours.

I don't think its a bad idea at all. His post Minny years were doomed for failure, and he actually played decent considering how terrible his teams were. With Tyler Thigpen not looking half terrible, Culpepper would be a much better option as a starter with Thigpen waiting in the wings.

I wonder if this would help Dwayne Bowe.

On a one year deal, absolutely a good idea. On a multi-year deal? Bad idea, I think.

If Culpepper can stay healthy, I think it would.

The Eastern divisions are clearly the best in the league. The Western divisions are clearly the worst. Synchronicity at work.

Here's hoping the Dolphins can upset the Broncos and get back to .500. Offense should be available in spades, but the defense will have its hands full. Both of my football teams (Dolphins and Razorbacks) have the same problems--Good yardage, bad scoring. Miami ranks 9th in yardage but only 22nd in scoring.

Yeah, they put good drives together, but they haven't been finishing them off lately. Then again, the Broncos can't stop anyone. I think we're going to put up a bunch of points on them. Unfortunately, our pass defense blows and throwing the ball is the Broncos strength. Brandon Marshall is a lock for 150+ yards and at least one TD. Should be a fun game to watch. If we get back to .500, then we're right back in contention. Our (out of division) schedule after the Broncos is ridiculously easy. We really shouldn't lose any of those 5 games (Seahawks, Raiders, Rams, Niners, Chiefs).

I knew Houston was not 0-4 bad, but I feel better about that loss seeing them at 3-4 now. Still, it's painful knowing the Dolphins were a desparation Favre heave and a QB sneak away from being 5-2. (Then again, The Texans can say the same thing.)

Back from Dallas. Defense was great. Brad Johnson sucks. I think a 60-yr old Roger Staubach could do a better job behind center than Johnson. It's painful to watch him back there. He's horrible.

Maybe we can get Quincy Carter off the dope long enough to use him for a couple of weeks...

The fact that they were ever 0-4 is what shocked me. The Texans have got some talent, I think the hurricane coming through might have impacted their season at the start, though.

It threw off some practices and forced them to cancel a game - it might have been enough of a distraction to hurt them early in the year, but I'd say they're getting back on track now.

I don't think Vinny Testaverde has made his annual comeback yet. Ya'll could bring him in.

Could have brought in Culpepper. Probably still could if Jerry acts quickly. He's got to be better than Johnson. At least he could get the ball deep to Williams & TO

Let's not get too crazy over the Texans record. Their 3 wins were against Miami (by 1), Detroit ( 7) and Cincinnati (a lot), all at home.

I mentioned Culpepper to a friend. What pisses me off about it all is that I and many Cowboy fans saw this in the pre-season. Johnson was horrible then. We felt that the Cowboys might bring in someone like Chris Simms and cut Johnson loose. Instead they signed Brooks Bollinger, but he hasn't gotten any reps in practice. At this point, they probably couldn't bring anyone in who could effectively start in the time before Romo gets back.

i haven't seen the vernon davis personal foul yesterday that got singletary all fired up, but i'm a bit confused. singletary ranted and raved about how davis was only out for himself, not a team player, etc. but during the game i saw a horribly thrown passed picked off by a seahawk and returned like 70 yards. vernon davis was the only guy on the 49ers to make an effort to try to tackle the guy. he chased him all the way down the field and caught him but tackled him as he crossed the goal line.

that doesn't sound like the type of player who is only in it for himself or not a "team player"

apparently, when Davis came off the field after the PF, Singletary yelled at him but Davis shrugged him off. that's when Singletary sent him to the showers

I thought this before the season. The Texans have tended to be a tough team to read, though, so I could very well be wrong.

You're right, that's the problem now. Romo will be back in a few weeks. Your only other option is Bollinger. I don't think he would be any better than Johnson.

If it's for low money, I'd do it. At the very least he could be your backup if someone else gets hurt. It would have to be a reasonably low contract though.

If the Chiefs can work out a cheap multi-year deal, I rescind that this is a dumb move. If it's like most multi-year deals and is in the multi-million dollar range, though, it's a dumb move.

He's certainly talented and productive, but only when healthy - and that's not often enough.

Look at Tennessee's record. People are saying they have a defense as good as the 2000 Ravens' defense and the best team they've played is a very mediocre Vikings team.

I do think they're good, but they haven't played anyone yet. The next few weeks for the Titans should be interesting.

That's a good point, but their losses were against good teams. The Steelers, Titans, and Jags on the road and the Colts at home. They also had big leads against the Jags and Colts that they blew. They got a pretty tough schedule the rest of the way and will probably end up with 7 or 8 wins only. Their offense has been very impressive the past 5 games though and they have the best WR in the league IMO.

The talk about this defense being as good as the Ravens of 2000 (perhaps the best ever) started when Trent Dilfer said he thought it was. He, of course, was the quarterback of that 2000 Ravens team. I think Collins has commented on this Titan D being as good too, but he's obviously biased a bit.

That said, this next few weeks really help to show what the Titans really are. I don't think they're 5-0 good, but I think they're only a slight step down from the true talent of the Pats, Colts and Chargers. With Tom Brady out, Norv Turner coaching SD and the Colts missing their offensive line, we very well could be the best team in the AFC right now.
