I'm confused as to what Bama needs to do to be respected.

 

Complete domination of Georgia and Clemson isn't enough for some respect?

 

I hate Alabama and really hate defending them, but this is a very good team.

 

People hate Alabama because when Alabama is good, they are REALLY good and can dominate. People like IMB and Sully doesn't Alabama to return cause they know Nick Saban will make this team the envy of college football, when they want NCAA to slurp their schools. That's why they don't get respected, and that is why Alabama is going to have to earn it on the field.

 

if alabama plays texas in a bowl game, like i said, texas will end up going to prison for a long time.

 

for that matter, if oklahoma plays alabama in a bowl game, oklahoma will be the defendant.

i'm not a big12 fan, but id' say they overrate their teams. however, they do not share the same insanity as sec fans, see above.

Alabama beat Clemson when they were the 9th in the nation. This revisionalist argument has got to stop. You can't fault Alabama for Clemson for sucking after that game.

 

As for Kentucky and Ole Miss these two teams are very good, on the rise SEC teams that have really good defenses. These teams can beat any team in football. Kentucky and Ole Miss are quality oppenents that Alabama has beaten, and by the end of the yr BOTH will be playing in good size bowl games.

 

I overrate the SEC because too many people underrate the conference.

I think there are just a lot of questions on if Alabama peaked too early in the season. They looked amazing against Georgia, but not so much since then, where teams like Florida have begun to play a lot better. Edited October 19, 2008 by shnsajax

nobody cares about this game, but it caught my eye on yahoo - utep 28, tulsa 28 after the first quarter. the teams combined for 511 yards in the first quarter and utep also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

tulsa has a crazy offense and an easy schedule

 

they have as good a chance as anyone to run the table

Dear God the offenses in the state of Oklahoma are insane. All of them average 40+ points a game. All of them have QBs in the top 5 in the nation in passing efficiency.

 

That Tulsa-UTEP game is now 49-28 at the half.

Alabama is a very inconsistent team. At their best they're as good as anybody. At their worst, they're that.

 

And even with this domination of Mizzou, I seriously question Texas' defense. They've shut down teams like Rice, UTEP and FAU, but does anybody really think that means anything? They've played two games against real teams, allowing 35 points to OU and 3 points to Mizzou. How good is that defense?

And I do agree with this. My arguement is that people like IMB and Sully thinks if there team plays Alabama they would blast Bama, and that is not true. Alabama is a really good team, who has flaws. I would put Alabama up against any team in America. But I also don't think Alabama peaked yet, I do think they have a really good game or two left in them. So yes, while I do overrate the SEC, is because non--SEC folks underrate the conference.

Most Tennessee fans haven't thought we'd make it to the national title game in a few years. I was very high on this team, even saying they could be a top 15 team, but acknowledged we'd likely lose 2-3 games at least. I ended up being very wrong, but after an SEC Championship appearance, was I really that out of line?

 

And I wouldn't willingly overrate Bama. I'd love to talk about how horrible Bama is. It would make me happy.
