I'm sorry but if getting one of the most efficient scoring power fowards in the game to pair with already one one of the most dymanic young PG's already in the game involves parting ways with the great Joakim Noah..then count me out sir...count me out!!!!

I am hesitant to giving up three bigs in the trade (Gooden/T2 and Noah) not because of sentimental reason, and player preference, but due to depth issues If the Bulls give up all three for Stoudemire, then the Bulls would be stuck with Noce/Gray and Ruffin as you're back up bigs. Even with Stoudemire that is still a average group of bigs, at best. So if you are going to give up three bigs in one deal for Stoudemire, you have to make another move for a decent big (Joe Smith from Oklahoma, perhaps).

ok, let me put it like this..you have two teams.

Team A

The Bulls Roster..currently constructed

Team B

Derrick Rose, Amare Stoudemire, and 10 other white guys.

What team will you take? I'll take Team B and kick the howry out of Team A nine times out of ten.

In the event that the Bulls have to give up Noah and Thomas in an Amare deal, it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement who will save us from the horror of significant minutes for Gray and Nocioni at the 4 and 5 spots. I like Noah's upside but guys who can match his current production are a dime a dozen.

Plus, there's still some sort of market out there for teams looking to clear cap space for 2010 and we have the Hughes contract. And maybe some nutty team is still interested in Kirk and Noc. We can get an adequate big man that way.

You get the big pieces and worry about the other crap later. This isn't just about this year and the depth right now would be a short term issue that we may (if we have to give up all those guys) or may not have to deal with.

Yep. The thing that people are worried about is that Amare will be a FA after next year and after signing him to a max deal, the Bulls won't have money left to sign the little pieces unless they go well over the lux tax, which Jerry will only do if he thinks that he's paying for a championship contender, which the Bulls will have to at least somewhat show next year.

I'm not arguing against trading for Amar'e and/or trading both Noah and Thomas, what I am saying is I AM NOT THRILLED with Ruffin and Gray getting more minutes if this trade went down. Now if you can get Robin Lopez thrown into the deal (I know, I know, he isn't as good as his brother Brook) then I would be ok trading both Thomas and Noah (assuming Gooden is automatic in the deal).

what's it say, though?

Gotta like the reports that the Suns like Thomas... and we know they've had interest in some of our other players in the past, too.

I don't think the Suns would be interested in Noah (as opposed to Thabo) because of Robin Lopez. Seems like a lateral move at best and they need perimeter defenders.

Now I wouldn't be opposed to adding Thabo in the deal.

I think it's a risk we have to take when we have the chance to acquire a big man who is almost ideal to put next to Rose. Or maybe they just work an extension right after the deal goes down. I don't really care. If they're as good as I think they would be, I don't think they'd have trouble keeping him around so long as they pony up the dough (which would be idiotic not to do if they traded for him in the first place).

Basically, I recognize that it's somewhat of a risk, but I think it's a risk that's so worth taking that it's a no-brainer. Especially in the east.

MILWAUKEE -- For those dreaming of seeing Amare Stoudemire at The Palace, you'll get your wish on Sunday when the Phoenix Suns come to town.

Looking to see him in a Pistons uniform?

Keep dreaming.

One of the worst kept secrets in the league has been Phoenix's desire to explore trade options for Stoudemire.

But Detroit is not one of the teams that Phoenix wants to talk to because, frankly, the Pistons don't really have anything the Suns want.

Sure, Rasheed Wallace's expiring contract is attractive. But with Wallace's game clearly on the decline, pairing him up with Shaq -- whose game, like Wallace's, is on the downside as well -- is a disaster waiting to happen.

It's weird how these reports about teams that were in the mix are suddenly coming out at the same time. Not saying it means anything at all, it's just funny.

EDIT - My bad. It was posted on RealGM and I made the mistake of thinking it was new. Granted, the points made are still valid. The timing thing is moot, though.

Where did you read that they were interested in Tyrus?

Dropping like flies.

There are rumors that Golden State has jumped in the mix for him, but who knows if Phoenix will want to trade him to the West.

I don't see how Golden State is a suitor if the Suns are interested in expiring contracts. The only one they have is Marcus Williams at 1.2 million.

I'm pretty sure KC Johnson reiterated it when he went on the radio today with Carmen and Silvy.

Thanks

Outside of the "Paxson is itching to pull the trigger" one, are there any articles that actualy talk about the Bulls going after him or having a good shot at it? I've been browsing through the realgm threads and all I see is articles about other teams, but really nothing about the Bulls.... yet everybody seems excited. What am I missing?

There have been a few reports that have stated that the Bulls have had talks with the Suns in the last few days. The fact that Amare is on the market is also no secret. The Bulls also happen to match up with what the Suns are (apparently) looking for (cap relief, young talent) very well. Then there's also the fact that Kerr and Paxson are good friends and the Del Negro link that adds a little twist (not that any of that means all that much). All of that is causing people to run with it, IMO. As far as leaked information, there really hasn't been a lot on the Bulls' end.

I wish others would hammer this point home, because it is dead on. There's a few things that everybody needs to realize about how the dynamic of the team changes if we get Stoudemire. We could become a tremendously efficient offensive club with a point guard who can beat pretty much anyone off the dribble and get to the dish and draw teams to play a style of "who do we want to beat us?" Getting a guy like Amare makes Deng a tremendous third option, Kirk a viable fourth option on offense as the spot up shooter and focus more of his attention on defense. Would I like to give up Noah? No, because I think he would be an excellent fit next to Noah, but if the alternative is to replace a guy like Noah while having the entire team benefit offensively, or to allow this team to flounder in mediocrity, the former is a very obvious choice.

Would Amare bolt Chicago after the 10 playoffs? I really doubt it. Chicago is a city that can make him a megastar with the right combination of effort, consistent winning, and marketing. This would be an ideal situation for him from a career standpoint. This is a very low risk deal in the long run for this team when you think about it.

I agree with everything you said. I would prefer a bigger guard than Kirk and one who can really guard and stroke the 3 ball but that's just nitpicking at this point. Kirk isn't as good a shooter as he should be.
