Heres a thread from Brewerfan.net. Apparently, some of them want Ryean Theriot.

They seem to be entertaining a Theriot for Weeks scenerio. While I have no interest in Rickie Weeks, Id be all about something along the lines of Theriot, Sean Marshall, and Mike Wuertz for JJ Hardy. Granted, I dont see it happening, but I find it interesting how much they seem the think we value Theriot. Sure, hes a good player, and silenced his critics for the most part, but hes by no means untouchable.

I'm one of the many who ate crowe this year over Theriot's year (my Dad served me a big dish of it last week...). I still say it's a fluke. Sell high. Packaging him with Pie for McLouth, or including him in a deal for Hardy would be genious.

Off topic, kinda....but I never got this phrase.

One man's trash is NOT another man's treasure.

The phrase should go, "one man's trash is what another man takes and refuses to admit is trash".

For an offensive 2B, a .234/.342/.398 line with a 93 OPS+ isn't exactly enticing. He hasn't lived up to his hype yet.

Weeks is going 30-30 next year... and the year after... and after... and after... until he dies. He'll be going 30-30 when he's 83 and playing Bingo.

He'll be doing it for the NL Central Champion Reds.

I can easily see him hitting .250 next year for a line of .250/320/.300. I don't think his "true" average is actually .250, something more like .270-.280, but batting averages vary from year to year and Riot was probably somewhat over his head this year.

Even if he does prove to be a .300 hitter there isn't much chance he maintains that .380 obp. Pitchers will realize how much "power" he has and just begin pounding the zone.

I would sell high also. He's a second baseman (albeit a good defensive 2b) playing shortstop anyway.

which is exactly why he might conceivably be available

i take it back, lets just keep spouting insanity like trading ronny cedeno and some fringe 40 man roster filler for proven established sluggers like is being done in damn near every other Transaction thread

JJ Hardy?? Sure he is a good player but nothing great. His OPS is pretty good but defensively he was the same as Theriot this year. Straight up I would do it in a heart beat but giving them a decent starter along with Theriot I don't like.

Only if it's under the leadership of someone other than Johnny B. If you couple Weeks with Baker for a season, you can officially kiss whatever promise he has left as a player good bye.
