Because some of these games ou swear these refs have money on the game.

in the sec, i'd be surprised if they don't have money on some of the games.

You're telling me. That's why I support a floating system to which one conference's refs would not get comfortable in any one conference. Refs would have no visible concentions to any school or said conference, and maybe we see these refs start calling good games.

yeah but if the school's boosters are paying off the refs, rotating refs isn't going to help anything. i think you just need to accept that everyone is going to cheat in the sec and whoever does the best job of it will probably win.

Then take it of the school's booster hands. Refs should be paid by NCAA anyways and not the home school. With that said, I don't want to drown this thread with a topic that can go on forever. So....it's topic to be dealt with another day.

I know everybody stopped watching the Illinois game(with good reason), and it didn't really matter in all likelihood, but I've never seen such a lack of home cooking on a home team clock operator before. There were extra seconds ticked off the clock on damn near every play on Illinois's last 2 drives. The last time it went from 9 to 8 clearly after the whistle was blown. Then 5 seconds later there goes second 7. It was ridiculous. Our front 7 oughta be ashamed of themselves. Hell, everyone but Vontae should be ashamed of themselves on the defensive end. Awful play calling in the red zone. Brutal.

Hey, Meph can be a Texas fan for at least one more week!

I have a feeling Texas wins this one.

I just hope that the Tigers can go into the swamp tonight and take care of business.

Hey vance, what's with your boy, Francios? (or however you spell his last name) He trash talk Tebow all week, then he's out for the game (at last I heard) with an injury. What's the matter, he bit off more then he could chewed?

PSU is apparently not eying #1.

que?

They were previewing the later games on the OU/UT game.

"Missouri...eying number 1! LSU...eying number 1! Penn State...playing tonight!"

He's been nursing that injury since the Auburn game. He sat out the game against Miss State, so his sitting out has nothing to do with his comments earlier in the week.

And I think, while his comments about Tebow were imprudent, they were also a bit misconstrued. He was trying to say how hard it was to get a good hit on Tebow and if he got the chance, he'd love to take him out. As Miles said in response, what defensive player doesn't want to get a good lick on the QB. I'm pretty certain the Gators will be trying to put a good lick as often as they can on Lee.

But, the comments have nothing to do with him sitting out. I think that both Francois and Beckwith were trying to make it back from nagging injuries because of the magnitude of this game. It just appears that Francois isn't ready yet. He's been limited in practice all week.

readjusted top five as of right now?

1. Texas

2. Alabama

3. Missouri

4. LSU

5. Oklahoma

Tough to drop OU much further than that. I am hesitant to drop them below LSU even.

how much would PSU have to win by to crack your top 5?

Well, LSU will make it easy for you tonight, one way or the other. Texas went from a pretty scrubby resume to the best win on anybody's record, so there's a good chance of vaulting Mizzou and idle Bama. LSU is a question mark.

And, of course, Penn State could look dominant.

I'd have to drop OU below all the unbeatens from the major conferences.

The top four could be arranged in any order at this point. Texas and Alabama have the best wins of the bunch, so I agree with those at the top two spots. Missouri, LSU, and Penn State all are about eqaul in my eyes. I'd probably order those like that. LSU could raise its stature with a win at Florida, but they would also drop out of the top five with a loss. Missouri and Texas will help settle things next week.

Penn State, as usual, is suffering from being ranked lower in the preseason than the other current unbeatens. I hate preseason rankings.

True. And that's what makes the college football season so interesting and frustrating at the same time. Each week, a team's national title hopes can be dashed.

Texas looks great right now, but they have a tough road ahead of them. LSU still has to face Florida, Bama, and Georgia the rest of the way. OU is out of the picture for now, but a lot can and will happen before it's all said and done.

penn state hasn't played anybody. i'd rank texas over psu based purely on the neutral-field win against oklahoma. mizzou, i guess, hasn't played a great schedule, but they blew nebraska's doors off in lincoln and they didn't lose a lot from a very good team last year. alabama won at georgia. if psu wins at ohio st and wisconsin they'll be in the national championship discussion but for now, they haven't done much to merit being ranked above the teams ahead of them.

texas will lose either at home against mizzou or at texas tech.

Alabama should be ahead of Texas, but those two should occupy the top two spots as of now.

So you're saying that during the preseason nobody really knows how good any team is and therefore it's unfair that the BCS could be affected by that uncertainty?

2008 has taken a decided turn in the wrong direction over the last two weeks

for the record, i wasn't too upset about the int/not int ... the ground can't cause a fumble, but it can cause an incompletion, right? maybe i've understood that wrong.

hard to complain about refs or calls in a loss where you give up almost half a hundred points and can't run the ball.

gotta root for mizzou next week cause texas has a hell of a schedule left to play.
