You know [expletive], I've posted two pretty negative threads so far tonight, but I am asking all of you to come together now. This isn't over. It truly isn't. We have Harden vs. Kuroda, we can win that. We can comeback, I want to post this, and I truly want all positive posts in this thread. If you are down and you are out, I understand, don't post here, and I don't blame you. But lets have some kind of thread that at least over the next two days we can feel somewhat positive about. Lets have a thread that is nothing but positive uplifting posts. Go Cubs. Lets win three damn games in a row!!!!! It can happen, I swear it can freaking happen!

i'll play along. we have our best starter pitching saturday and playing away from Wrigley may actually be good for the offense. so i could definitely see us winning saturdays game. a win should get the team to loosen up and lilly vs maddux or lowe on short rest gives us the advantage IMO. if we could somehow pull out those 2 games, then all the pressure is on LA to not blow a 2-0 series lead. we'd have a rematch of Z and Billingsley at home in game 5 and hopefully the defense can do its part this time. I know it's a longshot, but it's definitely not inconceivable. we just gotta wake those bats up and get good starts out of Harden and Lilly. hopefully having a day off will somehow help the team too...

good for you, carolinacubbie. it is refreshing to hear from a fan who, despite long odds, has

not given up on a talented team still in the middle of a playoff fight.

a disgustingly high percentage of this board has already conceded defeat and turned its attention

to composing amateur reflections on the psychology of baseball victimhood, as though there were

no more games to play, no chance of a reversal, and no value in playing out the rest of the series

with maximum effort. apparently these quitters would rather roll over in a playoff series than risk

the further disappointment of playing well but falling short in the games to come! what crap!

so, carolinacubbie, while I can't quite say I share your optimism, I admire you for still wanting to see

the Cubs give it evertyhing they've got, and for remembering that no matter what, no possibility

of playoff success is too small to be worth fighting for. here's hoping that everyone can somehow

bring themselves to stop writing their beer-soaked meditations on the uniquely devastating effects of

Cub fandom long enough to actually cheer for their talented team to make a series of it in LA...

after all, whatever the probable result, what kind of self-pitying piece of Howry can't bring himself to

cheer for his favorite team in a playoff series? indeed, what kind of baseball fan would ever want

to see anyone mail it in in October?

Anybody know how many times the Cubs have gone on a 3 game winning streak this season? That's all we need. It's not impossible at all. We're a better team than the Dodgers. Eventually, we're going to show it.

....maybe.

my quick count is 16.

three each in April, May, June, and August; two each in July and September

(I'm counting 4+ game winning streaks as just one three-game streak)

bear in mind, though, that I counted at 4:30 in the morning...trust it at your own risk

Our comeback in this series is going to going to put the RedSox 04 comeback to shame, people...get on board because it's going to be a great run!

GO CUBS!

11 more to go...

Some of that might be applicable to team with even an ounce of pride or fight in them but, these gutless wonders have already shown none of it applies to them.

Just take it one game at a time... whatever happened the last two games doesn't effect the odds of us winning Game 3.

The odds might be long now, but if we can win the next couple games they'll reset into our favor.

And furthermore, I've always thought that if we finally break through, it'd be a nail-biter of a series with this team coming back from the dead.
