I have a question.

Who can lay a bigger egg: the biggest chicken in the world, or ryan dempster?

Or the bats?

Demp gave up a handful, but it didn't matter. It wasn't reasonable to expect the pitchers to give up two runs or less.

I have a question: Where would this team have been this year without Dempster?

Probably in the playoffs. They won the spot by like a bajillion games, no one player could have cost them it.

I wonder how much money this start cost Dempster.

I was wondering that as well. If he doesn't get another chance to pitch, it definitely cost him money and likely cost him a chance to pitch in the blue pinstripes next year.

Probably, but he's the guy who shocked everyone by stepping into the role we all hoped Rich Hill would fill. He's the guy who convinced most of us they had the playoff pitching they needed to have a realistic shot to win it all. Which they still have, by the way.

You don't think the Cubs will bring him back? :-))

I was thinking the same thing. It seems losing that money and his chances of staying with the cubs are actually related . . . :)

Just remember the Kyle Lohse contract. He'll still be making over 10 mil.

This thread was about postgame comments...did anyone hear any comments? I didn't turn on my TV after I came home from the game. I normally love to watch any baseball, but I couldn't even turn on the Red Sox/Angels game.

One start won't cost him money. Baseball exec's realize one start doesn't really tell you anything about the pitcher. at the same time, they are dumb enough to give mediocre pitchers multi year deals in the $40-$50 mil range.

"What have you done for me lately"

Unfortunately, that's pretty much what it comes down to. I appreciate Dempster's great play this season, but to me, that's past history at this point. Seven walks? To me, while the offense could have done more, and Soriano needs to put something on the board, that walk total is totally unacceptable by any account.
