So I'm guessing... Penny Vs. Dempster?

Penny is in the pen for the Dodgers.

Lowe at Dempster

Billingsley at Zambrano

Kuroda vs Harden

?? vs Lilly

Yeah. I read a release on the Dodgers' MLB site that said Kershaw will work out of the bullpen and that it could be either Maddux in Game 4 or Lowe on short rest, though it said that Torre doesn't like to use pitchers on short rest.

If they're gonna start Maddux, they'd better start him in LA.

I'M GOING TO MY FIRST CUBS PLAYOFF GAME!!! :D

I've also seen the Dodgers last game of the season each of the last two years (game 3 of the 2006 NLDS and a regular season game to end their season last year)...

Picked up tickets to Game 3?

Yes sir!

I really wish the Cubs playing the Dodgers would have been more of a sure thing than it was (i.e. stupid Brewers for sucking for a couple weeks and blowing a 5.5 game lead). My brother lives in Santa Barbara so I could have gone down and stayed with him and then just driven down to the games with him.

There are a few tix still available...

Do wish the offense finished the season on a higher note but oh well.

I am really scared about the Dodgers. My early thoughts are Cubs in 5.

I think the Dodgers and Mets are about equal. I think Cubs in 4.

People on this board grossly underestimate Dodgers pitching. They are far and away better than the Mets in the pitching department. The Mets have Santana and a whole bunch of suck. The Dodgers rotation is almost as good as ours. We have the type of offense that could easily decided to sleep through the first 3 games and get swept.

I respect the Dodgers pitchers but I think some of their numbers are exaggerated just by virtue of pitching in the NL West with an unbalanced schedule. Whereas, the Cubs pitchers have faced much more competitive offenses in the NL Central.

Also, I think you are underrating the Cubs ability to score runs. The offense is far superior to last year's hit or miss attack because of the added dimension of the walk (not to mention the Cubs normally work the count and put managers in a position where they have to pull their starters early--it's one of the reasons why the Cubs have scored so many runs in the 7th and 8th innings ).

I wish I could but I'm helping out at the UCD football game on Saturday and I'll have some DHS stuff to finish on Sunday (and I'd prefer to not buy tickets for a game that might not happen).

I don't want to annoy anyone.

I just wanted to say, I cried when Braun hit that homer and I also want to say thanks to everyone who was not jerk to me during the season. And I hope we can beat the Phillies and if we some how meet in the NLCS I promise not to post here during the series.

This will probably get me flamed, but I'm rooting for you guys in the NLDS. A Cubs/Brewers NLCS would be epic.

It really would be. It would be fitting.

I cant even think about that right now.

I cant belive I was crying like a baby.

I just listened to Pat Hughes home run call on Brauns homer and he had a little excitement to the call which was really cool to hear.

He used to work for the Brewers, so it'd be understandable that he'd be happy for them.

Best of luck vs Philly.

This is even better than the Alou celebration shot in 2003.

I probably won't cry unless the Cubs make it or win the WS, but if you're a lifelong Brewers fan who hasn't made the playoffs in 20some years, it must be emotional. Congrats, and thanks for being a great poster. I'd love it if you'd stick around for the NLDS.

Also, Cubs-Brewers is the new Yankees-Red Sox.

I'm happy for Brewer fans who have had nothing to cheer about for so long.

But I'm angry that Lou -- even in a "meaningless" situation like yesterday -- STILL pitches Howry to Braun.

He basically said "Here Brewers, here's a batting practice AB for Braun so if you want the playoffs just take it."

If he does this in the playoffs I think I'm going to lose my mind.

Was their celebration in Japan?

Who knows, in a few weeks, we could be singing the praises of Bob Howry, he's got all the symptoms of the unlikely playoff hero.

During the regular season couldn't get a little league team out - check

Manager, defying all baseball logic, sticks with him - check

Every time he got up in the bullpen Cub fans cringed, fans of the Cubs' opponents cheered - check

In mystery akin to the identity of Jack the Ripper somehow makes the Post Season roster - check

And there you have it, although I don't believe Lou is going to use him in any high leverage situations thereby, not giving him the chance to the Hero, well see.

I like your optimism, but I'm really afraid of Howry cancelling out all the great things we've worked so hard to achieve this year. He also has the makings of a guy who can throw away sure victories in one inning. Cancel out any advantage the Cubs might have in other matchups. Throw all of the north side into a clinical depression.

Please don't use him Lou.
