I knew it was gonna happen eventually, but this was maybe the least likely time for a Zambrano no-hitter. 12-days rest. Having pitched poorly for the last month. Having spent time on the DL recently. Not sure where the game was going to be played because of a natural disaster. Carlos Zambrano is amazing!

Re-told his no-no. Said it wasn't til later in the game he realized it. Said it should have been a perfect game but Bruce Froemming screwed him over. Said he's proud of Z and thought for awhile he'd be the one to end the team streak of not having a no-hitter since his.

I hadn't seen Z pitch in a while. I turn my TV on at 5 and by total fluke, my local sports station was airing this game. The WSox game was scheduled, but they had a rain delay.

 

Watching this game just gets me even more pumped for the playoffs.

WGN has GOT to re-air the game nationally for those of us who missed it because of the damn blackout rules. And the blackouts MUST end IMMEDIATELY so Cub fans don't miss out on another game like this.

Tonight was the apex of the Cubs' regular season and gives the fuel to the fans to overcome the lull that had be-fallen our beloved recently. But we have kept the faith and we received an amazing gift in the form of Carlos Zambrano's no hitter. It was a very special game. It was in our north rivals' home without them there and had the feel of being at Wrigley Field. The surreal nature of the game from the get go was soon overshadowed by our dominant starter showing why the Cubs are a major force to be reckoned with in the playoffs. We are fortunate enough to say a handful of times a year, "man, Big Z has no hit stuff, and he was finally able to deliver on that single game potential. From all of the Cubs fans, we say a hearty "thank you" to Big Z on a tremendous outing that we will not soon forget.
