This team may kill me by the time this season is all said and done...but a world championship will be well worth it!

GO CUBS!

(I expect us to loosen up and score a bunch of runs tomorrow night)

What a nerve wracking ending.

Lou should've let Lilly finish it, that was pretty ridiculous. Great to get the W though, which is all that really matters.

Nice pitch.

Quit booing Cards fans, that was an amazing pitch.

Good lord, should they have cheered?

I didn't hear a boo like "that wasn't a strike"

come on now.

Come on Face, the Cards fans are just there for the Bud - they' re not watching the game.

Well I did.

lol, okay. I'm sure the Cubs fans do nothing of the sort when their guy strikes out looking.

Stupid Cardinal fans.

I never said they didn't. I'm just commenting on that one play.

I boo unmercifully until I run out of breathe and pass out personally.

I hate the nerve-racking, heart-attack inducing endings, but it's all part of being a good team. If you win a lot, many of those wins will go down to the wire.

I accept that, as long as this team doesn't kill me before October ;) .

Wood will be ok, but tonight was not the night to get him his work. I said it earlier and I'm pissed off now. I don't know how anyone could have been surprised. With how Lilly pitched all night and with the starters coming up, there was no reason to use Wood. It ended up being ok, but this performance by Wood just erased a portion of the momentum that this game could have given us. If Lou wants to "kick some ass" then you use Lilly....what a moron.

Momentum in baseball is all about the pitcher on a given day. if the Cubs get no hit tomorrow it won't matter what Lilly did today.

David Ortiz just layed down a successful sac bunt in Boston.

They had the play at 2nd I think. But if he can do it then anybody can.

Just saw the replay, they didn't have a play at 2nd. Good bunt.

Magic Number Math:

Cubs wins: 87

Brewers losses: 63

163- (87+63) = 13

Phillies/Cards/Astros losses: 67

163-(87+67) = 9

The playoff magic number is now under 10. Nice.

Had to let Wood finish it. He's pitched what, twice in nine days? Notmally I'd have let Lilly have the 9th, but if your closer never pitches you have to use him in a save situation there.
