well they sure proved it back in july

I don't think cubs fans should be saying that much can be extrapolated from a four game span of a 162 game season. At least not after these last four games ;)

So wait, the Cubs can't talk trash after a 4 game sweep, but the Brewers can talk trash for being 4.5 games back? The Cubs may be in a bad stretch, and it may have been only a 4 game sweep, but it's still a lot more than the Brewers got as far as "rights to trash talk".

I don't think he was saying the Brewers have more room to talk, but rather that any 4-game stretch doesn't mean much.

On a side note...

CC has pitched extremely well, there's no denying that, but has anyone noticed the teams he has had to face since coming over to the Brewers.

In his 11 starts, only three have come against teams over .500. One of his two no decisions came against the Cubs, which was the only team that actually did anything off him. The other two over .500 teams were against the Cardinals and the Astros. He has shut down those pesky Padres, Giants, the Pirates twice, Reds, Nats, Braves, and a depleted Rockies team in his first start.

Now I'm not saying C.C. hasn't earned the accolades he has received since coming over, it's just an observation.

the brewers should also try beating some good teams once in a while. it's all well and good that you have a nice record from beating up on the pirates and nationals and reds lately, but getting swept at home by the mets and cubs isn't doing much to back up the claim that you're better than those teams.

They've been playing tomato cans for the past month. There are 3 series I recall where they played solid ballclubs:

Cubs -- got swept

Dodgers -- lost 2/3

Mets -- got swept

These are teams they would likely face in the playoffs, not the Nats or the Pirates. How did they match up? Not all that well from where I'm sitting. Not all that well.
