I love Len and Bob, but their constant excuse making is getting old. We all know that the Brewers lost already and the Cubs can't lose any ground to them tonight, but it still doesn't make the Cubs pathetic play any more acceptable.

Then everyone could see how ridiculous it is to panic.
panic responses are a sign of a weak will and a generally pessimistic outlook on life

This is from the Gameday, the Red dots are outs and the blue dots are hits (Not including Lee's single):

2 Hits to the right side (one infield), everything else they have tried to pull, despite Wolf painting the outside corner...

If I was a fan of another team without a dog in the fight I would find this board HILARIOUS right now.

I don't see a reason to be worried about making the playoffs. I do see a reason to worry we will look like this in October.

You're missing the point. Nobody is saying it's likely that they miss the playoffs. The thing is, you keep shrugging off the possibility like there is no chance at it happening. "Oh calm down, there's only a one percent chance! That would never happen". Stop acting like it can't happen. What were the chances of the Mets missing the playoffs in mid September last season?

Actually, I'm not freaking missing the point. I'm not saying it's unlikely they'll miss the playoffs, I'm saying it's damn near impossible. You're saying it's realistic that it could happen.

Of course, things with a 1% chance of happening can happen, the Bulls (supposedly) had a 1.7% chance of getting the #1 pick. But they're also damn rare BY DEFINITION.

Answer my question. If the Cubs had a 1% chance to make the playoffs, would you consider the playoffs a realistic possibility?

Why the hell would you worry about some insanely unlikely possibility like that?

Why would I worry about it? Are you serious? I'm sorry but you're an idiot for thinking we've clinched anything. Can you find the Mets playoff odds when they had a 7.5 game lead in mid September last year? I'm sure Mets fans were saying the same thing over and over all September.

The truth is we just had an 11 game cushion above the last wild card spot and it's probably going to be down to 8 after tonight. So if 3 games can dissapear that quickly, the remaining 8 games could start to vanish quickly as well.

STOP ACTING AS THOUGH WE'VE CLINCHED ANYTHING. WE ARE CUBS FANS.

LOL wow....so you're admitting that you're being ridiculously irrational because you're a Cubs fan, I guess.

You still haven't answered my question.

A pretty good example of how everyone is pressing and trying to hit 8 run home runs every time up.

What question? I've already said that I'm not really worried about missing the playoffs, I just can't stand how you act as though it's impossible and nothing like that has ever happened in baseball. Stuff like that happens all the time, yet you completely shrug off the possibility.

Maybe you did your "photo shop" work to illustrate your points there, but if not... how can those be the Cubs' hits/outs when they are displayed as out in the field at that time?

Boy this blows. Well, they weren't getting through the season without one real slump. Nobody does. Here it is and fortunately they have built a cushion. Though I'm not ready to give up on this game yet.
