This team had better win the Series this year or I'm going to be incredibly dissapointed.

I've been incredibly disappointed at the end of every season for my entire life. So is my dad and so was my grandpa.

But I hear what you're saying. They have a fantastic opportunity.

I love this team. How fun is it to follow a team that's really, really good? I've certainly never really experienced it. I suppose parts of 2003 and 2004 approach it, but nothing really close.

In the years we weren't going to do anything anyway I was dissapointed, yes, but nowhere near the level I'll be this year if they don't at LEAST win the pennant.

I suppose I could live with losing the World Series if they at least put up a good showing. Anything short of the National League pennant is a terrible failure, IMO.

This was the Cubs 18th win of the month. Anyone think we can split with the Phillies to get to 20 wins this month?

I don't see why not. I could see 3 out of 4 or even a sweep, too.

Nice to have Dempster, Harden, Lilly, and Z going.. hopefully Z gets his head out of his ass.

That Harden vs. Blanton matchup is one hell of a mismatch.

The Cubs are the best team in the NL and Philly is not, so yes, of course they can. Will they? That might depend on how well they pitch to Burrell.

OK, Marquis not so great. But Duke, even worse.

We win in a pitcher's duel, 2-1.

I find it funny that when I'm just joking around my prediction is close.

Of course when I really try to make a prediction it turns out to be waaayyy off the mark.

From the "What a difference a year makes" department:

Currently, the Houston Astros are 66-66. If they have this record at this time last year, they're 1.5 games behind the first place 68-65 Cubs. This year, they're 16 games out.

A split would almost feel like a disappointment with our best pitchers going. I like this. I think 3 of 4 should pretty much be expected here now. That would put the magic numbers at 22 and 17 if the Brewers and Cardinals win all of their games. Obviously, that can't happen.

Also, Pittsburgh E# is now at 4 with the sweep.

^Getting eliminated in August must suck.

I agree that 3 of 4 would be a successful series. I'm so excited to go to Wrigley on Saturday I can hardly wait. But of the four pitchers going, why do we have to be seeing Lilly?

Better than Z, I guess. Last season during a game at St. Louis the GF noticed and became repulsed by how often Z grabs/adjusts/fiddles with his junk. Every time we see him pitching on tv now she'll make a comment about it. So I'm glad he's not pitching so I don't have to hear it. :-#

Now that we are done with them for the year...I really feel bad for the Pirates.

Aww, really? No more Pirates? Dangit.

I love it when my team has it's own personal whipping boys. The Cubs have the Pirates, the Packers had the Bears....

I would say the Bears have the Packers as their whipping boys the last 3-4 years... Honestly in the Lovie Era they are what? 6-2 against them?

In an ultimate act of irony, Marquis will throw a complete game shutout tomorrow.

Not exact a complete game, but I rock.

That's why I said "had".
