Most likely magic numbers after tonight:

Playoff spot= 21

Back to back NLC= 26

30 to play. 8-)

So if we go 21-9 to finish the season, we are guaranteed to make the playoffs. I like it.

Considering we are in the middle of a 22-6 stretch, I think its possible to do that.

We go 15-15 the rest of the way, we are sitting with 97 wins  . In other words, the Cardinals, Phillies or Mets would have to go 25-5 to tie us. We're going to the playoffs, but I want a division crown and HFA.

In reference to somebody who said maybe this is the Geovany Soto game earlier...

Soto has a WPA of .362 tonight, which is a huge number. But it doesn't compare to Sandberg's unfathomable 1.045 on June 23, 1984.

I'm not typically calm about any 9th inning with a lead, but this one, I'm cucumber cool.

Leadoff double down the line.

Wood shouldn't be in this game.

Lou, overall, is a pretty good manager.

That said...his bullpen management is as bad as it gets.

Brings in the Shark to face 2 batters

Gaudin faced 1 or 2 batters

Marshall pitched a single inning

Wood closing out a 6 run game.

Ugh.

There's one against the awful Gomez.

Top of the order. You've had your fun Woody, buckle down and get these.

I can't believe people were just laughing about the Mets blowing a lead. KARMA, PEOPLE!

Good thing the Cubs aren't using Luis Ayala is their closer

Please. He's not half the sham that Shammy McShammerson (aka Kerry Wood) is.
